The San Francisco 49ers are signing former Dolphins pass rusher Quinton Bell to a one-year deal

Bell, a 7th-round draft pick from the 2019 NFL Draft, is listed at 6’4, 253 pounds. He spent the previous two seasons with the Miami Dolphins. He was previously with the Atlanta Falcons in 2022.

Bell played 109 snaps during the 2025 season. Per Next Gen Stats, the Dolphins used Bell as an edge rusher for 103 of those snaps. He also lined up in the slot and at linebacker twice, and as a defensive tackle and cornerback once. He’s only a “linebacker” on the depth chart.

Bell could be the body type defensive coordinator Raheem Morris is looking for to walk down from his linebacker depth to incorporate 5-man fronts along the line of scrimmage. That’s how the Dolphins used Bell against the Bills last season:

Morris might be interested in players with experience playing in a two-point stance on the line of scrimmage.

Bell rushed the passer on 53 of his snaps last season. He had a pressure rate of 11.5%, while he dropped back in coverage enough times to be targeted 3 times.

Bell is an impressive athlete. He ran a sub-4.5 40-yard dash entering the NFL. That’s impressive, even if he is seven years and about 15 pounds removed from that day.

Morris will also want to prepare for a lineup that might not have the edge presence of Mykel Williams in it for Week 1.
