The San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday made a change to their coaching staff. NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco reported Cameron Clemmons was promoted to tight ends coach. Clemmons will fill the vacancy left behind by Brian Fleury, who took the Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator job.

Clemmons moves to the TE coach spot from his role as the assistant offensive line coach. He joined the 49ers in the 2024 season and held the assistant OL job for the last two seasons.

Prior to joining the 49ers, Clemmons was an assistant offensive line coach for the Las Vegas Raiders for three seasons after spending one year as an offensive quality control coach.

Clemmons first broke into the NFL with the New England Patriots in 2017 as a member of the Bill Walsh Minority Fellowship. During that 2017 season he was in the midst of a four-year stint with the University of Tennessee as a graduate assistant and offensive quality control coach.

It's not a huge surprise the 49ers hired internally for the TE coach job. They've been good about bringing coaches along in the Kyle Shanahan era. Clemmons doesn't appear to be in line to take over the run game coordinator job that Fleury also occupied. There's no word yet on where that responsibility will go..
