The Chicago Bears wrapped mandatory minicamp on Thursday, which marked the conclusion of their offseason program and beginning of a short summer break before training camp later next month.
According to the media, Thursday's final practice was a lighter one with low red-zone and special teams work -- along with some trick play drills -- but there were still some notable takeaways and highlights. There were also some standout players, including a familiar face in quarterback Caleb Williams and some newcomers to the list.
On the final day of mandatory minicamp, here were the Bears' biggest standouts that made strong impressions heading into the summer break.
The Bears are banking on quarterback Caleb Williams taking another step in his development this season, and he's already flashing during the offseason. Williams was once again a standout during minicamp practice. According to Adam Jahns, Williams had a solid 7-on-7 period in the low red zone. "Plenty of completions -- and touchdowns." Outside of the on-field production, Williams also had a moment of leadership. According to Zack Pearson, Williams connected on a nice deep ball to receiver Luther Burden III for 40-plus yards, which could've been a score in a real game. "Burden was celebrating in the end zone while Williams was yelling for him to line up and spike it. Some leadership by the QB."
On a lighter practice day that featured heavy special teams work, it's no surprise that one of the biggest standouts on Thursday was kicker Cairo Santos. According to Clay Harbor, Santos connected on 5-of-5 field goals, which included long kicks of 55, 58 and 60 yards. "That’s a strong day, especially from distance. There was one low snap from the center, so the operation wasn’t perfect, but Santos did his job."
The Bears have no shortage of playmakers on offense, but there are plenty of underrated names on the roster who will challenge for a roster spot. That includes veteran Scotty Miller, who was signed by Chicago after a tryout during rookie minicamp. According to Clay Harbor, Miller -- who he dubbed "Scotty Killer" -- had another impressive showing. "He’s had a solid camp. He’s fast, reliable, and he keeps showing up when the ball comes his way. In a crowded WR room, that’s how you stay in the conversation." Miller will be competing in a receivers room that features Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III, Kalif Raymond, Zavion Thomas and Jahdae Walker among others.
In true Ben Johnson fashion, the Bears concluded mandatory minicamp, and their offseason program, with trick play day. According to Clay Harbor, offensive linemen, wide receivers and tight ends were all throwing the ball during Thursday's practice. "Rome Odunze, Colston Loveland, and Cole Kmet all threw good balls." According to Matt Zahn, offensive linemen were also catching passes to start practice. Perhaps we're getting a sneak peek at a potential trick play in action for the 2026 season.

Pretty light final practice of Bears mini-camp.
Highlights of the day, a beauty of a deep ball from Caleb Williams to Luther Burden, and of course, the offensive linemen catching passes to start practice. @cbschicagopic.twitter.com/3qnwKLzWBE
