There will never be a moment in the history of United States sports quite like Mike Eruzione's goal.

Yes, the goal, the one that toppled the Soviet Union in the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, the one that led to Al Michaels' broadcast call, "Do you believe in miracles? Yes!"

And so there's no one quite equipped to talk about the 2026 U.S. Olympic men's hockey team than Eruzione.

He wanted to make one thing clear, though, in a hype video posted Sunday by USA hockey:

"This isn't a miracle," he said.

He elaborated on that point.

"It's time," Eruzione said. "This is the best hockey team we've ever put on the ice... They're talented. They're gifted. They're skilled. They're young."

He shared that it's something his teammates want for the current players.

"My teammates and I want this moment, we want these guys to achieve something," Eruzione said.

And then he shared a heartfelt thought about his grandchildren.

"What we did is what we did, it's over, it's ended, it's 40 something years ago," Eruzione said. "My grandkids need their hockey heroes. And it's gonna be this team. I believe it. I firmly believe this is the best team in the tournament."

Eruzione goes on to reference that some of the players on this year's team have referenced the movie Miracle as inspiration on the journey to this point.

Now, he wants them to write their own story.

As he said, it's time.
