Texas A&M is back to its winning ways, logging another Top 2 win, taking the series from No. 2-ranked LSU Tigers in front of a packed crowd at Olsen Field that included good luck charm coach Bucky McMillan.
LSU boasts one of the best pitching staffs in college baseball, making life difficult for Texas A&M batters all weekend. The Aggies struck out 39 times across three games, while their own pitching rotation answered back with 28 strikeouts, holding LSU’s potent offense to just seven runs in the series.
Each matchup came down to timely hitting, with both teams delivering clutch hits to split the first two games. Game three followed the same pattern, with Texas A&M trailing 4-2 in the bottom of the eighth inning. That’s when Jace LaViolette and Caden Sorrell, both struggling in the series, stepped up in high-pressure moments.
LaViolette’s infield single plated Gavin Kash, trimming the deficit to 4-3. Then, after a Wyatt Henseler single, Sorrell crushed a three-run home run over the left-field wall, propelling Texas A&M to a 6-4 victory. Sorrell reflected on his clutch at-bat, sharing insight into his approach under pressure.

"I think it's just about never letting the moment get too big"
"Mindset is everything. This game it's such a mental game, you can never ride the lows, you can't ride the highs, you got to stay in the middle. I like to kind of think of this game as 90% mental and 10% physical"
