Texas A&M (13-12, 1-6 SEC) finally showed some life in SEC play, earning its first conference win against Kentucky on Friday night after trailing 7-1 in the top of the fourth, leading to the Aggies' most impressive comeback of the season thus far. After catcher Bear Harrison launched his fourth home run of the season, freshman phenom Terrence Kiel was the star of the show, knocking in two runs while scoring off an error in the fifth.
However, while the offense deserves credit for the comeback, ace pitcher Ryan Prager's surprising struggles led to reliever Weston Moss playing the best game of his career, allowing just three hits and striking out six in six incredible innings. With unbridled passion, Moss's swagger is good news for a bullpen needing reliable arms. After the Aggies' 9-1 win, Moss told Austin American Statesman's Tony Catalina that "everything" was working on Friday night.
Earning his third win of the season, Moss has recorded 14 strikeouts in his last four appearances, including a solid 2.10 ERA. Moss's six innings is the longest he's stayed on the mound so far this season.
Texas A&M will face Kentucky in Game 2 on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. CT. The game will be available for streaming on SEC Network+.
