Training camp is set to start, and there are a multitude of questions to answer for the Miami Dolphins roster. While there are several roster battles that need to be figured out, there are many returning veterans who have established themselves in South Florida or elsewhere.
That said, here are three under-the-radar players who could have a big 2026 season with the Dolphins.
Riley Patterson might be a confusing pick here, but the kicker joined Miami in 2025 and ran away with the accuracy record. The initial record was set by Jason Sanders in 2020, as he kicked with a 92.3 accuracy percentage, making it a Dolphins franchise record.
Patterson came in due to Sanders suffering a hip injury, and he set the new record at 93.1 percent. Considering the offense has some major questions, the place kicker has a chance to continue his success in a big way by belting kicks for some points.
Zane Gonzalez may remain in the building for competition purposes, but Patterson should get the starting job and be poised for an even bigger year.
Josh Uche is one of the many low-cost veterans who were brought in to build out this reset or rebuild roster for the Dolphins. Despite having slowed down due to injuries and performance in recent years, he once brought in 11.5 sacks.
Uche can benefit greatly from the All-Pro talent that Miami has, linebacker-wise, with Jordyn Brooks, Tyrel Dodson, and Willie Gay Jr. setting things up, while the defensive end gets to the quarterback.
Chop Robinson may be the de facto leader in the pass rush room due to his time with the Dolphins, but Uche is a longtime veteran who can reestablish himself as a quarterback terrorizer in South Florida.
The world may focus on running back De'Von Achane, which is obvious. He continues to showcase why he is now the third-highest-paid back in the league, but when he needs a breather, the Dolphins rely on Jaylen Wright.
Wright showed some promise in limited snaps in 2025, bringing in 288 rushing yards and two touchdowns, but his yards per carry average jumped up from 3.7 to 4.1. That is a sizable gain, and he could carve out far more action in 2026.
Achane cannot be the lone back making plays, so expect Wright to form a more one-two punch for the offense to take another step. This is especially true considering the run game will be a big focus.
