The Georgia Bulldogs defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide on Tuesday night by a final score of 98-88.

The Tide were unable to contain the Bulldogs defensively at any point in the matchup. Georgia exploded for 98 total points, as Alabama struggled immensely against star Bulldogs forward Kanon Catchings throughout the entire night. Alabama allowed Catchings to score 32 total points, including seven three pointers, as the Tide had an extremely underwhelming performance overall in Athens.

Here are three takeaways from Alabama’s loss on the road against Georgia.

Labaron Philon Jr. continues to shine, records 26 points

Philon has been widely regarded as a top guard in all of college basketball throughout the 2025-26 campaign. The star playmaker recorded 26 points and four rebounds in the loss to Georgia, as Philon was one of the lone bright spots on the offensive end of the floor in Athens.

Philon was nothing short of elite against the Bulldogs, as the talented sophomore continues to play a pivotal role on a nightly basis.

Latrell Wrightsell stays hot from deep, records five three-pointers

Wrightsell was one of the hottest shooters in the entire SEC throughout the month of February. The star senior was named as the SEC Player of the Week on Monday, as Wrightsell continued his success from long range against the Bulldogs on Tuesday evening.

The talented guard continues to play a massive role offensively for Alabama, as Wrightsell was elite from behind the arc, despite the loss to Georgia.

Amari Allen struggles immensely for second-straight game

Allen recorded just three points on 1-of-7 shooting against Georgia on Tuesday. The star freshman has struggled recently, as Allen’s cold shooting night against the Bulldogs ultimately played a major role in the outcome of the matchup.

Allen could bounce back against Auburn on Saturday, but the talented forward was extremely underwhelming on the road in Athens.

Alabama will face the Auburn Tigers in the regular season finale on Saturday night, as the Tide will look to end the 2025-26 season with an overall record of 23-8.
