The Indianapolis Colts have boosted their cornerback depth, signing free agent Cam Taylor-Britt.

Taylor-Britt joins the Colts very familiar with Lou Anarumo, having played his first three NFL seasons under the defensive play caller during their time together in Cincinnati.

For more on the Colts' newest addition at cornerback, here are three observations from the Taylor-Britt signing.

3 stats to know about Cam Taylor-Britt

Good ball production: Taylor-Britt has had his ups and downs, but he's had good ball production in his career, generating 38 pass deflections and seven interceptions.

Man coverage stats: According to Zach Hicks, Taylor-Britt allowed a completion rate of just 44% when targeted in man coverage from 2022 through 2024. He also came away with four interceptions, five pass breakups, and had a forced incompletion rate of 11.7%.

Penalties: Taylor-Britt has been penalized often, drawing 27 flags in his four NFL seasons, including 11 in 2024. Taylor-Britt also allowed a hefty 17.2 yards per catch in 2023 and has surrendered 14.6 yards per catch over his career, per PFF.

Where does Cam Taylor-Britt fit in Colts' defense?

Cornerback is not a huge position of need for the Colts. At the top of the depth chart are Sauce Gardner, Charvarius Ward, and Kenny Moore. Justin Walley will also be healthy this year as well.

But what the addition of Taylor-Britt does is bolster the depth, adding competition for a roster spot with Jaylon Jones, Mekhi Blackmon, and Johnathan Edwards. Taking a swing on a 26-year-old who has experience and played well at times in his career isn't a bad idea either for the Colts.

Then, as noted above, Taylor-Britt's experience in Lou Anarumo's defense and play in man coverage makes him a good fit for what the Colts want to do defensively.

Taylor-Britt has had his ups and downs the last two seasons. Perhaps a change of scenery and reuniting with Anarumo can help him bounce back.

Colts updated cornerback depth chart

  • Sauce Gardner
  • Charvarius Ward
  • Kenny Moore
  • Justin Walley
  • Mekhi Blackmon
  • Johnathan Edwards
  • Jaylon Jones
  • Wyett Ekeler
  • Rob Carter Jr.

This is the strongest position group on the Colts roster, but just last season, the defense was decimated by injuries at cornerback. Improving the depth is a clear emphasis this offseason for GM Chris Ballard.
