The Jacksonville Jaguars are set to play the 2026 season under an unorthodox schedule that will mandate multiple games be played outside of Jacksonville.

The franchise will play two home games in London, giving them more time away as the construction of the Stadium of the Future marches on. The team is set to play in Orlando during the 2027 season with the stadium ready to open ahead of the start of the 2028 season.

In 2026, EverBank Stadium will play at a reduced capacity of around 42,507 fans (a reduction of 27,637 seats) in the lower bowl with the upper decks completely removed. That number includes about 1,260 standing room only tickets. This has been reduced down from 68,300 seats typically accommodated at EverBank Stadium.

As part of the team's agreement with the NFL, the Jaguars will play one home game outside of Jacksonville in 2026. As part of their agreement with the City of Jacksonville, the franchise can play up to two games away from Jacksonville in 2026, using the second game as a second London trip this season.

Jaguars team president Mark Lamping said during his media appearance in February that the team would be requesting the league give them a bye week after the team's second London home game. They'll then ask for a road game either before the team's first London game or after the team's bye week, giving the franchise a full month to ramp up construction on the stadium in the midst of the season.

After finishing first place in the AFC South in 2025, Jacksonville's 2026 schedule got a bit more challenging, with the franchise set to play first-place teams in addition to their standard divisional opponents and rotation divisions.

Jacksonville is set to play eight "home" games and nine "away" games this season as part of the league's rotation to balance a team's schedule year by year due to the 17-game schedule.

Jaguars will play 3 primetime games in 2026

The Jaguars enjoyed a rare appearance on Monday Night Football in 2026, defeating the Kansas City Chiefs 31-28 in Week 5. The appearance marked Jacksonville's first Monday Night Football game in 12 years.

With a playoff appearance and a 13-win season in 2025, the Jaguars ought to be expected to play at least two games on primetime television, not including the team's London matchups.

Using the Detroit Lions as a baseline, the big cat up north played four primetime games in 2023 (up from zero in 2022) after posting a 9-8 record that appeared to be the team's turnaround season. After winning the NFC North and posting a 12-win season in 2023, the franchise played five primetime games in 2024 and 2025.

While the Jaguars are not the national treasure the Lions can be, the franchise ought to get some love by the schedule makers, giving the team three primetime games this year outside their London games.

One of those games could be the league's new "rivalries" games, featuring new Nike uniforms specifically designed to each team's city. Jacksonville would have to play a divisional opponent while sporting the jerseys, giving them a potential primetime game against the Texans, Colts or Titans.

The Jaguars played the Los Angeles Rams in London last year, losing the matchup 35-7. Now, the team will head back to London to play back-to-back-games for the first time since the 2024 season when Jacksonville faced the Chicago Bears and the New England Patriots.

Jacksonville has played 14 games in London, going 7-7 during the series dating back to 2013. Jacksonville has played two divisional opponents, the Colts and Texans (2016 and 2019). In 2026, the Jaguars will likely not face the Washington Commanders as the NFC East foe will host a game of their own in London this year.

It feels unlikely the Jaguars would allow either the Philadelphia Eagles or Pittsburgh Steelers to leave Jacksonville, but those dynamics could change due to the reduced capacity.

Still, if using popularity as a metric, giving Jacksonville the Cleveland Browns and a division rival like the Tennessee Titans could make sense. The Jaguars have not played either team in London and Tennessee's last appearance came in 2023. Cleveland played the Minnesota Vikings at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2025, but last played before that in London in 2017.

After posting 13 wins during head coach Liam Coen's first season as head coach, it makes sense the team would come back down to earth a bit in their second season. However, the Jaguars are piquing in the right areas, which could lead to loess of a falloff, resulting in a 12-win season in 2026 and another AFC South title.
