After winning just seven of their last 24 regular season games, the Florida State Seminoles football program has nowhere to go but up.
After graduation, attrition and players transferring out of the program, coach Mike Norvell raided the transfer portal for some talented replacements of his own, on both sides of the ball.
Here we take a look at three transfers to watch in 2026.
As a first-team All-Sun Belt Conference selection, Chris Jones was an unholy terror for the Golden Eagles of Southern Mississippi last season. The mission that he chose to accept was to make as many tackles as possible to help his team win.
In that endeavor, Jones did exactly that and recorded 135 stops on the season, to go with 9.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. Jones averaged 10 tackles per game, which was good enough for No. 7 in the FBS.
He posted double-digit tackles in eight games last season, including a season-high 15 tackles twice. For the month of November, Jones recorded double-digit tackles in four consecutive games.
Jones has the potential to be one of the best to ever play the position at Florida State.
A 1,000-yard rusher in 2024 for the Texas Longhorns, Quintrevion Wisner rushed for 597 yards and three touchdowns. Against their rival Texas A&M, Wisner left scorched earth in his wake as he ran over and around the Aggies for 155 yards in a 27-17 Longhorns victory.
Going into his fourth year of college ball, Wisner was deemed expendable by Texas coach Steve Sarkisian. So, Wisner saddled up and rode East to Tallahassee. He is another talented member of an already talented Seminoles running back room, arguably the most talented position group on the team. This is a group that also includes Ousmane Kromah, Sam Singleton and Germari Sands.
Wisner brings shiftiness and speed that will compliment what the Seminoles will try to do in their rushing attack. Will the 2024 version of Quintrevion Wisner please stand up?
The Seminoles lost all five starters from last year’s offensive line. Nate Pabst brings a ton of collegiate experience: 47 games played, 38 starts at Bowling Green, to a rebuilt Florida State offensive line.
At 6-foot-7, 315 pounds, Pabst displays athleticism and versatility, having played both right tackle and right guard for the Falcons. Pabst was a team captain and earned second-team All-MAC honors last season.
These players, along with talented returning starters and other key contributors, will be critical to the success of the Seminoles’ season. Still, Norvell will have to put on the best coaching season of his career if the Seminoles are to even sniff just six wins and a bowl berth.
That best coaching job ever starts August 29 against New Mexico State.
