We continue the countdown to the start of the Arizona Cardinals' regular season. Today, Saturday, August 15, is 29 days away from the Arizona Cardinals' regular-season opener on Sept. 13 on the road against the Los Angeles Chargers.

With 29 days until Week 1, let's look back at the 1929 season for the Cardinals.

A look back at the 1929 season for the Cardinals

The 1929 season wasn't bad for the Cardinals. They went 6-6-1. They began the season 1-4-1, but they bounced back and won five of their final seven games.

They had five shutout wins. They were shut out three times.

They averaged 11.8 points per game, which was fourth in the league. They allowed only 6.4 points per game, which ranked third.

Ernie Nevers rushed for a team-leading 12 touchdowns and also threw all six touchdown passes the Cardinals had that season. He made 10 extra points and one field goal. He had a hand in 18 of the team's 20 offensive touchdowns.

He was a first-team All-Pro, while right tackle Duke Slater made the second team.
