After attending No. 9 Iowa women's basketball's (22-5, 13-3 Big Ten) 62-44 victory over then-No. 5 Michigan (22-5, 13-3 Big Ten) at a sold-out Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Sunday, 2027 five-star power forward recruit Nation Williams shared photos from her official visit with the Hawkeyes and to Iowa City.
Williams, a 6-foot-2 native of Las Vegas, Nev., currently stars for Centennial High School, where she is averaging 17.3 points, 10.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.8 steals and 1.5 blocks per game on 54% shooting and 50.0% accuracy from 3-point range, according to MaxPreps.
According to 247Sports' composite ranking for the 2027 recruiting class, Williams is ranked as the No. 10 player nationally, as the No. 1 power forward, and as the No. 1 player in Nevada.
Williams is also the daughter of women's basketball Hall of Famer and former Las Vegas Aces' general manager Natalie Williams, who signed Hawkeyes legend Megan Gustafson in the 2024 offseason and then selected Iowa's Kate Martin in the 2024 WNBA draft.
In the comment section of Williams' Instagram post, current Iowa stars, including Taylor Stremlow, Taylor McCabe, Kylie Feuerbach, Layla Hays, Callie Levin, Addie Deal, and Chit-Chat Wright, all chimed in to further showcase the supportive culture of the Hawkeyes' program. Additionally, previously-mentioned Hawkeye legends Gustafson and Martin also commented on the talented forward's visit to Iowa City.
Williams also posted several photos on her Instagram stories, with one featuring her lying next to Caitlin Clark's iconic "22" mark on the Carver-Hawkeye Arena floor, alongside audio of Taylor Swift's "22."
While Iowa offered Williams back in June 2024, she has received offers from several other programs, including North Carolina, Duke, South Carolina, Baylor, Louisville, Notre Dame, and Big Ten foes UCLA, USC, Wisconsin, Rutgers, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Oregon, and Washington.
Although she did make a stop in Los Angeles to meet with UCLA, that was technically considered an unofficial visit, according to her Instagram post on Feb. 5. Therefore, this weekend was Williams' first publicly acknowledged official visit.
Even though Williams is certainly going to go on more official visits as her recruitment process continues, there is no denying that the atmosphere of Carver-Hawkeye Arena, Iowa's culture, and the Hawkeyes' proven ability to develop players into WNBA stars will have left a positive impression on the highly sought-after 2027 star.
