The 2026 Winter Olympics officially get underway on Friday — even though there have already been a handful of competitions — with the Opening Ceremonies. The event will be spread out over four cities across Italy and is certain to be quite a celebration with performers like Mariah Carey and Andrea Bocelli.
Mike Tirico, Terry Gannon, Shaun White and Mary Carillo are on tap to host the Opening Ceremonies for NBC. TODAY host Savannah Guthrie was supposed to be part of the team, but had to withdraw due to an ongoing family emergency.
It's the first Opening Ceremony for Gannon — although he's been a mainstay at the Closing Ceremonies in years past — and White. It's certainly not the first Olympics for White, however, as the snowboarder has three gold medals from across five Olympic games. Tirico won't be in Italy for the actual Opening Ceremony, due to him being on tap to call the Super Bowl on Sunday.
Everything kicks off at 2 p.m. ET on Friday and will be broadcast on NBC.
