There is a narrative building for Round 1 of the 2026 NFL Draft and the New York Jets.

Currently the team holds two first-round selections ahead of this year's draft at Nos. 2 and 16. As of late, speculation and mock draft drafts have the Jets connected to edge defender David Bailey and a wide receiver with those two selections, respectively.

Count CBS Spots among thinking that for New York based on the outlet's latest mock draft.

In CBS Sports' latest projection, Bailey is Gang Green's first pick followed by USA wide receiver Jordan Tyson.

Bailey, a Texas Tech pass rusher, was named the Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year in 2025. The honor was well earned as the edge defender had 19.5 tackles for loss and 14.5 sacks in 14 games played.

Tyson, a versatile 6-foot-2 playmaker, had 61 catches, 711 yards and eight touchdowns last season in nine games played. The year prior, Tyson had a 75-,1,101-10 campaign.

CBS Sports' breakdown on both players can be found below:

The Jets are likely deciding between Ohio State pass rush Arvell Reese and Texas Tech pass rusher David Bailey at No. 2 overall. Reese has a higher ceiling, but Bailey is more ready to see the field now. New York may be feeling the pressure to compete in 2026, so Bailey is more conducive to that goal.

The Jets are in an interesting position because they feel primed to hit the reset button with three first-round picks in 2027 but Aaron Glenn may be feeling the pressure to compete this year. There are competing agendas within the organization. Jordyn Tyson could prove to be the best wide receiver in this class if he is able to stay healthy.
