NBA free agency isn't what it used to be, as CBA rules give teams a major advantage in retaining their top players by allowing them to offer more money and years on new contracts.
Even so, free agency remains an entertaining time for NBA fans, and 2026 should be no different. This year's class has some huge names on it, including LeBron James and James Harden, but it's the young players, such as Jalen Duren, who make it really interesting.
Below, check out how we rank the Top 100 free agents of the 2026 class.
A freakishly explosive big man with driving ability, and who can even hit some short midrange jumpers from time to time, he really specializes as a finisher near the basket and as a rebounder. He did have a porous showing in the 2026 playoffs, which might end up costing him some money, but considering he's still just 22, his upside is quite high.
A surprising midseason move sent him from Los Angeles to Cleveland, with the goal being a deeper playoff run for the Cavs. That somewhat came to fruition, as Cleveland did make it to the Eastern Conference Finals. Although he's getting older, his game appears to be aging almost shockingly well, which not many expected. Still an excellent tough-shot-maker and a visionary playmaker.
A breakout year led to him making his first All-Star appearance in 2025-26, as a 32-year-old. The timing was great, as he will hit unrestricted free agency this summer. A smooth scorer who can get buckets from all three levels, his issues lie with his lack of passing - he gets tunnel vision a little too often - and on the defensive end. But he's certainly a confident and efficient bucket-getter who can help elevate a team's offense.
He finally started showing signs of his age this past season, and the advanced analytics reflect that, but that's perfectly understandable considering he's now 41 with 23 seasons of wear and tear on his body. Even so, he remains highly effective as a scorer, rebounder and playmaker, just no longer at the levels of his late 30s.
Even if the Thunder do let him hit free agency, that's not a knock on him as a player but rather a financial decision. He remains an excellent screen-setter, a high-energy player, a good finisher around the rim and a sneaky good passer out of the short roll.
A capable, tidy scorer with the ability to make difficult shots over good defending, a valuable skill set. Has shot nearly 43 percent from three over the past two seasons, and still has some bounce around the basket. Perhaps he can be more impactful in winning in a different situation.
Health concerns remain his biggest issue, as he's become a bit unreliable with regard to his availability. When he's out there, though, he remains a unicorn - a skilled big man who can shoot threes, score off of face-ups, hit pull-up jumpers or drive by slower defenders, who can also protect the rim at a high level on the other end. He suffered the same health issues in Golden State.
An elite rebounder and shot-blocker, he's another throwback big man without much jump-shooting ability. Regardless, there's still a place for a player like him even in the modern NBA, as he makes a huge impact defensively and is a good finisher out of the pick-and-roll near the basket on the other end.
There are questions about how he'll look upon returning from an ACL tear, especially at 31 years of age. Will he even opt out of the final year of his contract without much - or any - of a sample size for 2025-26 as he recovers from injury? Either way, when healthy, he's a bulldog of a point guard who makes a two-way, steady impact.
Quick point guard with great change-of-direction and pace skills, who can get to the basket to finish, hit pull-up jumpers or nail shots from deep beyond the arc. He's also a plus-distributor. Overall, he's done well to develop into an entertaining, effective scoring lead guard. Was a great mid-season addition for Charlotte, which should help his next contract negotiations.
The former Duke standout is a freakishly long-armed and bouncy big man who can finish just about everything around the rim. Forms a good defensive presence around the basket thanks to his size and length, and can really clean up on the glass. Lacks range on his offense, though, and has some injury troubles from time to time.
One of the best defenders in the NBA thanks to his strength, toughness, physicality and quick feet laterally. Has done great to develop his offensive game since arriving in the NBA, too, becoming a capable outside shooter and possessing the ability to finish off of slashes. Could he be a tax-related casualty for the Thunder this summer, allowing him to join another team?
Has made a great impact in Detroit, helping the team shift the culture and turn into a winner. Good three-point shooter and face-up attacker, who is a versatile defender thanks to his quick feet laterally and solid base of strength.
Big man with skill, who can dribble, drive, hit shots with his feet set or off-the-dribble and provide defensive versatility, guarding from forwards to bigs. Has developed into an excellent three-point shooter.
One of the top breakout players of 2025-26, he is a high-energy big man who can finish at a high level near the basket, though he doesn't provide much scoring outside of the painted area. Very impactful rim protector on the other end of the floor, too. Had a highly effective season and will reap the benefits this summer in free agency.
Even though he's on the wrong side of 30, he remains an athletic two-way forward who can get some buckets, grab some rebounds and play some defense, though without possessing any truly elite traits. Still, as a role player who can do some one-on-one scoring, he remains effective.
A bombastic scorer with deep scoring range and fantastic athleticism near the rim. Can stop on a dime and nail tough jumpers from all over the floor, including from three. Has the ability to get hot at a moment's notice and has spurts where he looks like an All-Star guard.
A smooth scoring wing, he bounced back decently in 2025-26 after a rough showing in the 2026 playoffs, though his three-point shooting took a nosedive in the second half of the season with the Clippers. He can score off the dribble from the midrange, hit threes, slash to the basket, and play some defense on the less glamorous end of the floor.
Athletic swingman who can nail threes at a high level, block shots, cause havoc defensively, rebound and score attacking the basket thanks to his bounce and length. Really broke out this past season in Denver, earning him what should be a nice payday this summer.
After a hot start in Atlanta, he cooled off a bit, and his numbers with the Hawks (12.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game on 47.6 percent shooting) wound up looking eerily similar to his marks in Golden State (12.1 points and 5.9 rebounds on 45.4 percent shooting). He didn't perform all that much more impressively in the playoffs for Atlanta, either. The upside as a one-on-one scorer and slasher remain there, however, as he won't turn 24 until early in 2026-27.
Still played at a high level on the defensive end, while trucking along with his usual contributions on offense - and antics - on the court. Good rebounder and playmaker, and can guard multiple positions, though not as effectively as he used to. He said himself he thinks he's got another two to four years left of playing, so he could opt out to lock in one more big contract before retirement.
Didn't do much to change the narrative on his game with the Lakers, even playing with two playmakers as great as Luka Doncic and LeBron James. Athletic, long, quick leaping ability, good rebounder and finisher around the basket. Can attack the offensive glass. But provides little defensive impact and can float in and out of games with regard to his focus far too often.
Skilled veteran big man with the ability to space the floor from three, set powerful screens, roll and finish near the rim, or pass it out of the short roll. Not much of an impact on the defensive end, but he can block a shot here and there. Good post-up player, although in the modern NBA, that isn't that valuable a skill set. Strong rebounder. Got benched by the Celtics in the playoffs, though, which will be brought up by teams in free-agent negotiations.
Explosive big man with some post moves. Has shot the basketball from three extremely well over the past two seasons. Still a bit lacking as a defender, but overall, he made a very positive impact in Los Angeles and Utah, making him a decent free-agent target for teams this summer.
A lock to opt out of the final year of his deal after the season he had, arguably the best of his career. Good playmaker and shot-maker from the midrange who also rebounds for a guard and can cause some havoc defensively. A little inefficient as a three-point shooter is his one knock.
Athletic big man with a ridiculous wingspan, great timing and quick hops, all attributes that make him a very adept rim-protector. Also uses those physical gifts well on the glass. No range as a scorer, but finishes well near the rim.
A slippery driver to the rim with a quick first step and a prowess to attack the rim going left despite being right-handed. Bouncy finisher around the basket. Can hit some tough shots, though isn't the most efficient shooter from the outside. He's a huge threat in transition thanks to his speed and quickness.
A hybrid forward with quickness, skilled as an outside shooter, athleticism getting to the basket and good finishing ability.
Had the best outside shooting season of his career this past year, which came at a great time as he enters unrestricted free agency. Remains an explosive finisher near the basket and an effective slasher off the ball.
Energy swingman who can make an impact on both ends of the floor. Good three-point shooter, too, making him a positive-impact player when he's on the floor. Had a pretty impressive playoff showing until the Finals, which will help his case in free agency tremendously.
Hasn't played more than 53 games in a regular season since 2020-21. Bottomed out in 2025-26, appearing in just six games for the Clippers due to injury. Can he still get back to at least a near-All-Star level if he regains his health in the future? That's the big question. Considering his output in L.A. prior to going down, it seems quite unlikely.
Aging big man who can still block some shots and hit some threes, but can't be relied on to play as many minutes as he could in his prime.
A high-energy point guard who plays with a ton of effort on both ends. Can hit pull-up jumpers, spot-up threes and finish with craft around the basket. At least tries on the defensive end, even if the results aren't always great.
Veteran power forward who can space the floor from three, drive the ball and finish around the basket a bit. Has some defensive versatility thanks to his lateral mobility.
Even at 37, he still put up strong numbers for Sacramento, albeit on one of the worst teams in the league. Will a contender pick him up this summer with hopes he can provide an impact off the bench? Or will a rebuilding team be interested as a locker-room leader?
Broke out this season in Detroit as an off-the-dribble scoring lead guard with some playmaking and defensive capabilities. The Pistons very likely won't let him hit free agency this summer.
Enjoyed a bounce-back season in Utah, displaying the impressive rebounding, screen-setting and playmaking from the elbows that made him such a good player in his prime. Mediocre finisher near the basket.
Super athletic and long big man who makes a huge impact blocking shots and fighting on the offensive glass. Great finisher down low. Gets injured too often, though, which will hurt his case in free agency.
Impact defender thanks to strength and uncanny ability to remain glued to ball-handlers. Adept at fighting through screens. Poor offensive impact, though, mostly due to his bad three-point shooting.
Enjoyed a strong 2025-26 season, one that saw him shoot one of the best marks from beyond the arc of his career. That's in part thanks to playing with a passer like Nikola Jokic, but he deserves a ton of individual credit for putting up such good numbers at 34. Earned himself a nice contract this summer with his play.
An absolute lock to opt out of the final year of his deal, which would pay him just $2.8 million, a much smaller number than he's projected to get as a free agent after the breakout season he just had. A floor-spacing big man with good lateral quickness and some shot-blocking ability, he'll have numerous suitors this summer.
Enjoyed a fantastic season shooting the basketball. Underrated player running the pick-and-roll. Can hit some shots off the dribble, too, making him more than just a spot-up shooter. Led the league in three-point percentage in 2025-26.
A three-point expert who has seemingly lost all confidence in his outside shot. Shooting under 35 percent from three over his last three seasons, which just won't cut it for a player with his limited skill set besides his shooting.
Shooting expert from beyond the arc who can make tough shots over good defense and even knock down some treys off the dribble. Has more scoring juice than just a spot-up specialist.
Aging former All-Star who still has the savvy scoring game from three and the midrange, but whose body won't allow him to move like he used to. Adept playmaker and rebounder.
Had two very impressive seasons in New York as a role player with his spot-up outside shooting and feisty defending, aiding his case heading into unrestricted free agency. Can score off the dribble, too, so he's just a set shooter.
Versatile wing who can play and defend multiple positions. Great rebounder for his position, and good playmaker. He can bring a locker room championship experience, too. Adept three-point shooter with his feet set.
Bulldog defender who can be an absolute pest on the defensive end, and even get into the mind of opponents. Picks up steals in a multitude of ways. Respectable shooter from beyond the arc, too, and had a great NBA Finals.
Has some positives, namely his quickness for a big man, but he's an inconsistent player on offense. Good switch defender and can block some shots.
Energy big man with great lateral quickness, making him an impactful defender on switches. Fights on the glass, can finish around the basket and even shoot some threes.
Good three-point shooting guard who plays off the ball. Won't fill up the stat sheet, but can hit threes with his feet set at a good enough level. Impactful defender on the other end. Makes a bigger impact than his raw numbers would indicate. Poor playoff showing won't help his free agency.
Three-point shooting big man who can fight on the glass and play some impactful defense. A positive impact player off the bench.
At one point, one of the most creative bench scorers in the NBA, with a unique floater game, allowing him to finish around the basket. Quick first step and tidy crossover. Can get hot from the outside but is mediocre statistically from three-point range.
Athletic center who can finish explosively around the basket, grab rebounds and block shots. Doesn't have much range on his offense but within his role, he can be quite effective.
Athletic power forward with good defensive versatility thanks to his lateral quickness, but a poor outside shooter.
Great backcourt defender thanks to his quickness and strength. Plays with great energy on both ends. Good slasher, inconsistent three-point shooter.
Looked like his pre-ACL injury self in Orlando this season, providing the team with strong screens, as well energy on both ends. Effective finisher near the basket.
Enjoyed a nice bounce-back season in Dallas, putting up double-digit points and hitting the three-ball at an impressive level. The level of interest he gets in free agency will depend on how sustainable teams think his three-point shooting is.
Athletic forward with two-way chops thanks to his defense. Still quite young despite years of NBA experience. Three-point shooting remains subpar, but a good scorer as a slasher.
Australian big man who can space the floor from three or drive it against hard closeouts. Has some quickness laterally, allowing him to switch on guards.
Had a breakout 2025-26 season at the perfect time, displaying great playmaking mostly as a reserve for Toronto. Can do some pull-up midrange scoring, too.
Could be headed towards retirement this summer. Mostly on a roster at this point due to his locker-room leadership, which is important in its own right.
Could a return to Euroleague this summer be in store for the Serbian basketball legend? Struggled in L.A. this season, but can still get buckets thanks to his confident scoring, and ability to hit difficult shots from beyond the arc, and the midrange.
Coming off the best season of his career, luckily for him, as he's about to enter unrestricted free agency. Athletic point guard with a smooth feel for the game.
Interesting player thanks to his ball-handling and playmaking at his 6-foot-8 size. Effective slasher and finisher around the cup but a very poor outside shooter. Still, maintains some intrigue thanks to his skill and versatility on defense.
Stand-still shooter from beyond the arc, though his shooting percentages aren't anything out of this world. Great size for a spot-up shooter, though, so he does present some matchup problems.
Slashing off-ball swingman who can really score as a cutter thanks to his athleticism and grit. Respectable three-point shooter, too.
Although he doesn't get as many minutes as he used to, he makes a strong impact in his brief stints of action. Averaged over 15 rebounds per 36 minutes in 2025-26. Great finisher near the basket and has expanded his game to the three-point line to an extent.
Likely on his last legs as an NBA player, though can still give spot minutes and make an impact with his shooting and playmaking.
Had an almost inexplicable drop-off in 2025-26, at a tough time, too, considering he's set to hit unrestricted free agency. He'll be in his age-30 season next year, so he will probably get another NBA shot, but his output was poor in '26, to put it kindly.
Another young player who enjoyed a breakout 2025-26, he displayed three-level scoring, three-point shooting and some playmaking.
Showed more promise last season a slasher and three-point shooter. Can get some buckets off the dribble. Adept defender who gives good effort on that end of the floor.
Strong, impactful backcourt defender with good size and length. Can score off of some slashes, but not a reliable outside shooter.
A walking bucket, he can make very tough shots from all over the floor. His issues lie on the defensive end, and with his tendency to get tunnel vision once he gets the ball. But there's no doubting his abilities as a scorer, which are vast. Quick, can stop on a dime, hit pull-up jumpers, he can do a bit of it all on the offensive end. The fact that he pretty much got sent home by two teams last season will give teams pause as to whether to give him a shot this summer.
Didn't have as glorious a return to the NBA as was expected after his impressive Olympic stint with Team France. Could still have a chance to stick in the league thanks to his size, strength and versatility on both ends.
Nice playmaker, putting up a high amount of assists per minute. Decent enough three-point shooter, too, giving him the makings of a player with a potentially long NBA future.
Enjoyed a bounce-back season in Minnesota, displaying that explosive off-the-dribble scoring that extended to the three-point line, and impressive tough-shot-making skills.
Veteran swingman who can defend at an impactful level thanks to his long arms. Very heady player with underrated playmaking skills and some off-the-dribble scoring near the paint.
Athletic swingman with some scoring juice off of slashes. Plays with great energy and provides an impact with his perimeter defense.
Big man with quick leaping ability and good instincts on the defensive end, allowing him to be an impactful rim-protector. Good finisher around the rim.
Floor-spacing big man with some post-up abilities. A bit of a plodder, so not the best switch defender, but can block some shots and fight on the glass.
Coming off a decent rookie season that saw him perform well as an off-the-bench scorer with range out to the three-point line.
Slashing and athletic lead guard with some effectiveness on the defensive end thanks to quick feet and long arms.
Great locker room presence and can still contribute when called upon with his three-point shooting and rebounding.
Disruptive defender who can block shots and rack up steals. Effective slasher on the other end. His NBA future will depend on his three-point shooting, which has been poor thus far.
Crafty scorer near the basket with a good nose for getting buckets. Stout rebounder. Limited defender and doesn't present much of a threat as a scorer outside the paint.
Athletic swingman who can finish around the basket and hit some shots from the outside. Has flashes some as a tough-shot-maker, but hasn't put it all together consistently yet to this point.
Really shone in the last chunk of the season with Milwaukee, displaying good frontcourt scoring and playmaking.
Hasn't been able to find that level he had in Miami. Can hit shots with his feet set from three, as well as some pull-up jumpers.
Impactful backup guard type who can run a secondary offense, hit some threes and create some plays.
Stand-still spot-up outside shooter with some ability as a scorer, driving the basketball. Not the most consistent outside shooter, though, despite that being his main skill set.
Never lived up to his pre-draft billing, but has developed into a tough big man who finishes efficiently near the basket. Sets strong screens. Doesn't try to play outside of his game.
Could be headed toward retirement this summer, but can still contribute in spot minutes with his length, defense and spot-up shooting. Good veteran to have in your locker room.
Athletic big man with explosive finishing ability near the basket. Highly efficient finisher but won't try to score away from the basket.
Very likely to hit free agency, as his injury-played 2025-26 likely won't lead to New Orleans wanting to bring him back for $8 million in 2026-27.
Confident bucket-getter who can score in isolation. Quick crossover and first step, and can knock down shots on pull-ups and off the dribble.

One of the best defenders in the NBA thanks to his strength, toughness, physicality and quick feet laterally. Could he be a tax-related casualty for the Thunder this summer, allowing him to join another team?

Hasn't played more than 53 games in a regular season since 2020-21. Bottomed out in 2025-26, appearing in just six games for the Clippers due to injury.
