Why would we get a pick? The deal has been approved for the most part. It will be Charlotte who gets something extra as they're the team giving something up.
Because we have to agree to restructure the deal. That gives us leverage potentially.

I'm not saying it will happen, it probably won't considering how freely we give away picks, but it's possible.

There has been word this morning in Las Vegas that Victor Wembanyama is considering signing less than his maximum rookie scale extension to provide San Antonio greater financial flexibility.

Brian Windhorst says he’s hearing that LeBron signing with a team other than Cleveland is a done deal.

"I'm hearing stuff in other cities too. I'm not gonna say who but I had somebody on the phone with me today that I consider a good source who was swearing it's a done deal in another city,"

Wembanyama decided on the 25% maximum instead of the 30% supermax escalators to $303M, after he and the Spurs went through multiple frameworks. A major decision for the All-NBA star and Defensive Player of the Year entering his fourth season.

San Antonio worked in close partnership with Wembanyama and his representatives, offering the full super max and different variations of extensions. But Wembanyama ultimately chose a contract sacrifice rooted in giving him and the organization increased ability to build a sustained title contender around him.

I guess "sacrifice" means something different now.

Kudos to the kid I guess, but he's still going to be filthy rich for the rest of his life regardless.

Spurs chairman Peter J. Holt, CEO RC Buford, GM Brian Wright and coach Mitch Johnson traveled to Paris to meet and spend time with Victor Wembanyama and his family and reps Friday. Wembanyama was essentially a lock to earn a $303M supermax if he played 65 games next season -- but he opted for a significant sacrifice at a flash point for the Spurs' rise.

In the Spurs championship past, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker had a history of taking less for the betterment of team-building.

According to Bleacher Report NBA writer Greg Swartz, Cleveland could pursue a three-team deal involving Kyrie Irving in an attempt of making their pitch to sign James the most favorable.

In the proposed trade, Cleveland would acquire Irving, Gafford and Naji Marshall from Dallas. Miami would receive James Harden, while Dallas would get Jarrett Allen and Schroder from Cleveland, as well as Davion Mitchell and Nikola Jovic from Miami.

The “sacrifice” won’t change his lifestyle one iota.
