The 58th season of the Jersey Shore Basketball League tipped off is getting underway this week at Manasquan High School, once again bringing together some of the top basketball talent from New Jersey and beyond.
An NCAA-sanctioned summer league, the JSBL with eight teams features collegiate standouts, professional players and rising stars competing throughout the summer in one of the state's premier offseason leagues. Admission is free.
Before the action heats up, here are 10 things you should know about the 2026 Jersey Shore Basketball League season.
A new team has entered the JSBL in 2026 with County Line Auto Body replacing the Intern Helpers.
Owned by Rich Gardella and coached by Steve Porter, despite being a new team, the talent is certainly there. Former Felician forward Abdul Shanunu and former Coppin State guard Josh Treadwell look to be standout names.
Combined with former New Mexico wing Jachai Simmons and former SMU forward Markus Kennedy the team projects to have standouts.
Each game of the 2026 JSBL season will be played at Manasquan High School.
After JSBL in 2021 played at both Dempsey Park in Belmar and Mount Carmel Parish Center in Asbury Park, Manasquan opened its doors. It's been the home of the JSBL since 2022.
What's better than watching free basketball filled with professionals, collegiate stars and some of New Jersey's finest without a price. All of the JSBL’s games are free admission.
Regular summer games are typically played Monday through Thursday at 7
.m. and 8:30 p.m.
There's a strong possibility more names will be added on throughout the season, but with the initial JSBL rosters, there are 40 Shore Conference alumni.
Christian Brothers Academy leads with five alumni, while Matawan and Ranney both account for four players each to JSBL play.
Monmouth County accounts for 32 of the 40 alumni while Ocean County has eight of its superstars.
With the JSBL entering its 58th season, the league has had plenty of NBA talents enter its circuits.
The league has had the likes of Nate Archibald, Mark Eaton and Knicks All-Stars Mark Jackson, Michael Ray Richardson and Anthony Mason make appearances.
J.R. Smith is an NBA champion, while Billy Donovan was the head coach at Florida when they won back to back titles in 2006 and 2007, while Rick Brunson is an assistant coach for the Knicks who won the 2026 NBA Finals and even Brian Scalbrieine who spent a decade in the league and is now a co-host on SiriusXM.
Former University of Charleston guard Dwanie Jones made a three-pointer with 0.4 seconds left in the JSBL championship in 2025 when ACI/Robin’s Nest defeated Sterns Trailer 85-84 in a classic.
It was the teams first JSBL Championship since they originated in 2022 as they look to defend the throne.
ACI/Robin’s Nest returns Jones along with high school teammate and former Hartford forward Jared Kimbrough who led the team in scoring in 2025 and Samier Kinsler, a former Glenville State guard who scored 16 points in the championship game.
Fresh off winning a championship with the Jersey Shore Breaks, a professional basketball team a part of the 94x50 league based in Belmar, Justin Robinson looks to lead Sea View Jeep to their seventh JSBL championship.
The former Monmouth University guard and member of the JSBL’s 55th anniversary team, Robinson averaged 34 points a game during the 2025 season, which was second in the league.
He holds the record after averaging just below 49 points a game in 2022 and showcases his scoring ability. The 2,000 point collegiate scorer has taken the league by storm and looks to display more brilliance in 2026.
Scottie Lewis had one of the most storied beginnings of high school basketball while playing in the Shore Conference at Ranney High School.
He became a top 10 recruit in the nation, and with Ranney, Lewis won both the Shore Conference Tournament and NJSIAA Tournament of Champions in 2019 before committing to Florida University.
After two seasons with the Gators, Lewis was drafted 56th overall by the Charlotte Hornets in the 2021 NBA Draft. He now gives ACI/Robin’s Nest a spark to go back to back in 2026.
A former Monmouth University and Jacksonville University alumni, Jakari Spence had one of the best seasons of the JSBL’s modern era in 2025.
The former Toms River North high school star averaged just under 39 points a game to lead the league and brought Sterns Trailer within one point of their sixth championship in team history after winning three straight.
As 2026 comes, Spence will have to lead one of the league's most feared teams alongside former Monmouth star George Papas and 2024 Championship MVP David Coit in the backcourt.
This season of JSBL Basketball has the chance to be one of the best in league history with all of the talent that comes in and returns.
Will Sterns Trailer win their fourth title in five years? Can ACI/Robin’s Nest go back to back? Can Seaview Jeep get over the hump?
