2026 FIFA World Cup: Every qualified team confirmed

The 48 countries that will compete at the 2026 FIFA World Cup have been confirmed this week.

European and Inter-continental play-offs saw the final six sides book their place at this summer’s tournament, which will be co-hosted by Mexico, Canada and the United States of America.

Among the qualified teams are several World Cup debutants. Curaçao have made history as the smallest nation, by population, to qualify in the tournament’s history, while Cape Verde, Jordan and Uzbekistan will also compete for the first time. Elsewhere, DR Congo and Haiti are among the teams to return after long absences.


The 2026 World Cup will be the first in a 48-team format, featuring 12 groups and an inaugural Round of 32 knockout round.

The World Cup will begin on June 11th 2026, with the final to take place on July 19th at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

  • AFC: Australia, IR Iran, Japan, Jordan, Korea Republic, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Iraq
  • CAF: Algeria, Cape Verde, DR Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Morocco, Senegal, South Africa, Tunisia
  • Concacaf: Curaçao, Haiti, Panama
  • CONMEBOL: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay
  • OFC: New Zealand
  • UEFA: Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czechia, England, France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye
