The 2026 football season for the Auburn Tigers is on the horizon. As we anticipate the start of the season, let's introduce you to a key member of the 2026 roster.
Anyone who follows the Auburn football program will not argue that defensive back Champ Anthony is one of the most talented players on the team. However, his career has been sidetracked due to injuries.
His first injury occurred in an early 2024 matchup with Arkansas, with a broken leg. The 2025 season featured two injuries for Anthony: a broken thumb in the season opener versus Baylor and a season-ending leg injury against Kentucky. It also does not help that Anthony has missed the previous two spring practices.
He has played well when on the field. Through four games in 2024, he had a total of 12 tackles and three passes defended. Last season, Anthony played in just six games and had a total of 13 tackles. While Anthony has shown playmaking ability when on the field, the Tigers do feature plenty of depth at the safety positions, featuring both experienced players and underclassmen.
