Astros are an interesting rebuild comparison vs. the Rays. They rebuilt their position players then traded for their starters. That lineup is so deep and you can hold a few down for a game, but there is always someone coming through in that lineup. Rays pitching is special, but they can't generate runs the way that Astros team can. They hit in the drafts on so many of their positional players.

Here is an interesting quote from an article about the Yankees/Twins playoff game.

The New York Yankees' 10-4 win over the Minnesota Twins in their AL Division Series opener on Friday was the epitome of what Major League Baseball has evolved into in 2019.

A 4-hour, 15-minute meeting between power-packed offenses was dominated by the Three True Outcomes — homers, walks, strikeouts — when the defense is superfluous other than the pitcher and catcher.

https://news.yahoo.com/yanks-twins-epitome-baseballs-3-055837570.html

They should have added popups to homers, walks and strikeouts.

How does that relate to our D-backs? We fielded a lineup of line drive hitters who tried to put every pitch into the stands.

As I've posted, I can't understand how the D-backs could use that approach while leaving the Minor League's top power hitter on the bench.

Next season's D-backs manager needs to establish an offensive identity and stick to it.

Shane Green The hired closer Atlanta got from Detroit at the deadline is someone the DBacks should look at closely as their possible closer next year.

A disappointing end to an otherwise stellar 2019 season. So grateful for the support of our fans. Proud of our front office, Rocco, the coaches, players & staff. The Bomba Squad forged its place in MLB/Twins history. The future is bright. Pitchers & catchers report in 127 days.

Spoke yesterday with Ryan Helsley, who of course has gotten a lot of blowback for his opinions on the Tomahawk Chop, some of it racist. He was heartened to hear support from his team, including top baseball exec John Mozeliak. He also knows he could hear about it tomorrow night.

Chandler Rome @Chandler_Rome

Justin Verlander has never started a regular-season game or postseason game on three days rest. His only short-rest appearance was in the 2017 ALDS out of the bullpen against the Red Sox. Verlander threw 40 pitches in 2.2 innings

The Tomahawk Chop is going to be dead soon.

As fans arrive this afternoon at SunTrust Park, they'll notice something different about their seats, something missing, something subtle: The foam tomahawks placed on every seat before games 1 and 2 of #NLDS won't be there.
