Everyone is seemingly worried about the Washington Commanders' wide receivers. Outside of Terry McLaurin, there are question marks about Washington's receivers, despite the additions of third-round pick Antonio Williams, Dyami Brown and Van Jefferson.
Brandon Aiyuk remains linked to the Commanders, but he's still property of the San Francisco 49ers. Stefon Diggs is a free agent and seemingly wants to play for his hometown team.
But, for now, Washington GM Adam Peters seems content with the current group.
The Commanders began their second week of OTAs on Tuesday, and two receivers appeared to stand out: Treylon Burks and Luke McCaffrey.
Zach Selby of the team's official website broke down what he witnessed during Tuesday's practice, beginning with McCaffrey.
It's encouraging to hear about McCaffrey's continued development. Before a shoulder injury ended his season in Week 9 last year, McCaffrey was steadily progressing. While he only caught 11 passes last season, he did have 203 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He averaged over 18 yards per reception. Additionally, McCaffrey was one of the NFL's top kickoff returners before his injury, averaging 29.6 yards per return.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound McCaffrey is entering his third NFL season in 2026 and is competing with Williams for snaps in the slot.
The 6-foot-2, 225-pound Burks, a 2022 first-round pick of the Tennessee Titans, continues to stand out.
After signing with Washington midway through last season, Burks impressed in his limited opportunities, including his touchdown catch against Denver, which was one of the NFL's best catches in 2025. The Commanders re-signed him to a one-year deal this offseason, and he appears to be making a strong case to be the starter opposite McLaurin on the outside.
These are encouraging developments for Washington. The Commanders badly need some of their younger receivers to develop, not only to help McLaurin but also Jayden Daniels. McCaffrey (25) and Burks (26) are both young and could help Washington avoid signing a high-profile receiver, such as Diggs, or Aiyuk, when he becomes available.

Former third-round pick Luke McCaffrey is one of the players they are hoping will develop this summer, and he had a strong day with three catches from Daniels. One of them was a contested grab while working against Jeremy Reaves, who tried to make a play for the ball but had it snatched away by McCaffrey, who kept both feet in bounds.

Treylon Burks is another receiver who continues to stand out. Burks made a pair of impressive grabs during last week's OTA practice, and the former first-round pick was at it again with a tough sideline catch where he managed to get his knee in bounds. Burks has an ideal NFL frame at 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds. If the receiving room does end up staying the same for the regular season, it would be ideal if he managed to emerge as a No. 2 option for the offense. Burks showed some flashes in a limited role last season, so the hope is that a full offseason in the building will help make those highlight plays become more common.
