2. Bundesliga: Dynamo Dresden squeeze past Holstein Kiel as Kutschke bid farewell

Dynamo Dresden started the last matchday of the 2. Bundesliga campaign with relegation concerns, but they have now ended the season in 11th place. A 2-1 win over Holstein Kiel helped them to go past their guests in the final league standings.

Vincent Vermeij scored both goals in the first-half on the day his former club Fortuna Düsseldorf got relegated to 3. Liga. The Dutch striker finished the campaign with 11 goals after a strong second half of the season.

Alexander Bernhardsson saw his penalty-kick saved by Tim Schreiber in first-half injury-time. Kiel did pull one back ten minutes before time as Phil Harres also reached double digits for goals.With results elsewhere favoring them, Dresden were spared from a last-day tension. Instead, the fans applauded Stefan Kutschke for his four-year stint at the club as the 37-year-old striker retired from football.
