This year’s 1st Summit Bank Ken Lantzy All-Star Classic’s festivities kicked off Sunday with a picnic for players, coaches, committee and family members at Windber Recreation Park.
Recent graduates from the area will take part in the 54th gridiron classic at 7 p.m. Friday at Greater Johnstown High School’s Trojan Stadium.
A football clinic for children in grades 1-6 will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Trojan Stadium.
This year’s North team is coached by former Penn Cambria mentor Nick Felus, who will roam the sidelines at Neshaminy this fall. The rest of the staff includes Berlin Brothersvalley’s Dante Paul, Forest Hills’ Justin Myers, Penn Cambria’s Sean Davison and Andrew Tomaselli and Richland’s Zach Rugg.
Cambria Heights’ Jarrod Lewis leads the South squad. Members of the staff include Bedford’s Wes Swaim, Cambria Heights’ Lance Eckenrode, Greater Johnstown’s Tony Penna Jr., Marion Center’s Adam Rising and Windber’s Matt Grohal.
The North’s offense consists of Forest Hills’ Nate Cornell and Northern Bedford County’s Vaughn Schleinkofer at quarterback; Chestnut Ridge’s Haydan Webb, Claysburg-Kimmel’s Matt Lattieri, Forest Hills’ Mason Papinchak, North Star’s Ethan Smith and Richland’s Cody Yeager at running back; Northern Bedford County’s Aaron Bowers and Wesley Horsh, Penn Cambria’s Gavin Harrold, Richland’s Austin Yarnick at wide receiver; North Star’s Jesse Samler and Portage’s Bode Layo at tight end; McCort-Carroll Catholic’s Logan Arnold, Everett’s Zach Winck, Homer-Center’s Elijah Butterly, Northern Bedford County’s Joey O’Brian, Penn Cambria’s Preston Farabaugh, Richland’s Austin Blough and United Valley’s Braxton Jelley on the offensive line.
