With questions about Lamar Jackson, the secondary, and a new head coach, GM Eric DeCosta and owner Steve Bisciotti faced the media on Tuesday, taking questions for about an hour.

With the offseason now underway, here are the takeaways from the presser.

Lamar Jackson will have some say in the next coach​

Steve Bisciotti said Eric DeCosta is looping Lamar Jackson in to the coaching interviews, texting him after each interview.

Bisciotti said a couple of interested college coaches have reached out to the team showing interest.

Ravens' brass addressed the media on Tuesday, January 13, and Bisciotti offered a clearer picture and broader sense of the plan going forward. While addressing the media, Bisciotti informed those in attendance that Jackson has been included in a post-interview Zoom call following the initial eight interviews conducted so far.

Could Mike Tomlin be the next coach?​

Tomlin just stepped down as the coach of the Steelers during Bisciotti's press conference. Tomlin's rights still belong to Pittsburgh, but Bisciotti was asked about Tomlin potentially being a candidate in Baltimore. The Ravens owner has some fun with it.

Ravens will soon be up for sale​

Most owners pass the team down to children to carry on the legacy, but Bisciotti would prefer to hand his family and heirs money rather than an NFL team.

Bisciotti on his long-term plans for ownership: "I'm not passing it down to the family. I made that decision 25 years ago. I don't think that's healthy for my family."

Still a lot of candidates to interview​

Baltimore has already conducted 8 interviews, and the team has another 8 or nine to schedule before selecting a finalist.

Ravens GM Eric DeCosta said there are still 8 to 9 candidates to be interviewed through Sunday. After the first round of interviews is over, the team will narrow the finalists to 4 to 5 candidates, who will come to the Ravens facility.

This won't be a one-week situation, and even after Harbaugh's firing, there's still another two weeks or so before a resolution.

John Harbaugh was fired regardless​

Ravens media asked a hypothetical question about Harbaugh still being around if Tyler Loop makes his field goal attempt. Bisciotti didn't pull any punches when saying the coach was still done.

When asked if the Ravens had beaten Pitt, would John still be here. Bisciotti said “For a week.”

The Ravens players were not improving​

Bisciotti was open and honest about his team, and one key reason for the firing was the Ravens' players' failure to improve.

Damn. Bisciotti just laid into coaching as a factor for lack of player development. He pointed to the offensive line.

Ravens fired John Harbaugh to save him from the fans​

Baltimore fans had grown tired of John Harbaugh, and the owner hinted at the firing being done because he was tired of the ugliness towards the famed coach.

Steve Bisciotti said he’s never liked the things said about John, from fans and media. He said part of him relieving John of his duties was also “relieving him of some this crap.” He did acknowledge that the fan outcry played a small part in his decision

Nnamdi Madubuike update​

The defensive tackle missed the bulk of the season with a neck injury, and it's so severe that his career could be in jeopardy.

Eric DeCosta said he can't talk specifics about Nnamdi Madubuike's situation with his season-ending neck injury.

John Harbaugh was fired over the phone​

John Harbaugh was consoling Steve Bisciotti when he got the phone call firing him.

Harbaugh told the Ravens owner, "You don't owe me anything."

The Ravens owner wasn't in Baltimore when he fired his head coach, and as only Harbaugh can do, he reversed course and consoled Bisciotti.

Some College coaches want to coach Lamar Jackson​

Steve Bisciotti said the Ravens have had some college coaches reach out to them expressing interest in the Ravens' head coach job.

Eric DeCosta is texting Lamar Jackson after every interview and Steve has offered his jet if Lamar wants to fly up from Florida to participate.
