Think Jacob Misiorowski was fired up to face the Chicago Cubs?

On his third pitch of his start June 26, Misiorowski unleashed the fastest pitch of his career – and by definition the fastest ever tracked by a starting pitcher.

On an 0-2 count on the first batter of the game, Misiorowski reared back and fired a 105.5 mph fastball to Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong.

One hundred five miles per hour.

It was not only the fastest pitch ever chucked by a starting pitcher (breaking Misiorowski's own previously-set record of 104.5 mph) but tied for the third-fastest tracked by any pitcher ever. Aroldis Chapman currently owns the fastest pitch ever tracked at 105.8 mph, as well as the second-fastest of 105.7 mph.

Incredibly, Crow-Armstrong got a bat on it, fouling it back, although he would later strike out on a curveball.

Misiorowski threw 12 fastballs in a 1-2-3 inning, all of which were at 102 mph or above.
