Trey was already firmly there.

And to JL's point - for Wilson, how much was desperation from Putzing after realizing his run-first offense, which cost the Cardinals games, needed to change REGARDLESS of the QB situation?

Not sure how you can say Brissett has given us hope of a chance for a win - Cardinals could (and should if not for bone-headed non-Kyler players) all the games Kyler started. We've been blown out in the majority of JB's games, and even in the close JB games, never felt like we would win any of them, not to mention the 4 blowout losses.

JB is the perfect tanking QB - almost guaranteed loss.
That's fair Jon. I didn't mean to frame that as if he was solely responsible. And when I say given a chance to win, I mean in terms of synergy with the offense. Loses are losses whether by 1 or by 39, pretty or ugly, but I can't recall the last game by K1 in which I didn't feel that he was in tune with what the O needed to secure the win. Every game he played, felt like it would take an act of God to win. It still does, but the resemblance to an actual NFL offense was more evident. That likely is more an indictment of Petzing more than anything else if I'm being honest. Everyone knows that McBride, MHJ, Wilson and even K1 himself, and to a lesser degree Higgins, Jones, and Dortch are better than what was put out there on the field. And once again to sum up my ultimate feelings, Jacoby is in fact horrible. A lot of empty calorie numbers has made him look much better than he is. This is more just about the direction we need to go as a team. It's just time for Kyler to leave. I wish him the best. I'm still a fan. I'm just through.

Tennessee has Kansas City, New Orleans and Jacksonville - maybe one more win
NY Jets have New Orleans, New England and Buffalo - zero wins
Cleveland has Buffalo, Pittsburg and Cincinnati- maybe Bengals if Burrows doesn't play
NY Giants has Minnnesota, Las Vegas and Dallas - I can see Giants beeting the Raiders but NY's SOS is worse that ours
Las Vegas is a dumster fire with Houston, Giants and Chiefs left - I can't see them winning any games even with Mahomes out.

My guess is we finish about where we are at #6 because it's the Bidwill luck!
Right, C88. I think it is always worth keeping an eye on the last couple of games, since teams could rest their starters. However, if you look at those schedules, where are those games? Nobody is resting anyone. Either the team are in close division-fights, or their season is over, so they might as well use up the starters.

I can see us winning a meaningless game or two and dropping to 10th or so.
That is my fear, RC. Fortunately, the Falcons are two games ahead, but the Bengals are only one. Cinci have Miami and Cleveland left, so they could realistically win at least one more, but as you pointed out, it is certainly a risk that they just throw up the white flag. Imagine if Cards won all three and ended up picking #14 or something like that. The Athletic have them at 99% chance of a top ten-pick, but I mean, Cards could easily f*** that up.

@Gandhi love reading your takes, but McDaniels is a bridge too far. I just don't think anyone is dumb enough to ever give him another HC shot. Both times he was highly criticized for how bad the culture was on the teams he coached. Players absolutely hated him and openly cheered when he was fired.
I hope you are right, Krang. I think McDaniels is a very good coordinator, but is one of those guys that makes a horrible head coach. He’s a great example of that dynamic, by the way.

I just see it as a very real option that some owner will give him another chance. Everyone wants the next great quarterback, and everyone is in awe over Drake Maye. And who are the likely offensive HC-candidates? Klint Kubiak and Joe Brady? Other than that, second- or third chance coaches like Matt Nagy, Arthur Smith, Mike McCharthy seem the most likely.

I would not be surprised if some team believes that they are the perfect place to “fix” McDaniels. It’s kind of like with retreat quarterbacks, by the way, and why I think Murray could have a market.”It could be so good, and we are the smartest team in the NFL with the best capability to make McDaniels a success. The other teams were just incompetent.” I could see it.

I’ll probably get killed for this one, but I so disagree with #4.

Brissett is a loser, and that’s not an opinion, it’s a fact. He’s 1-8 and will very likely be 1-11 in a couple more weeks.

I’m not impressed with garbage time stats and 4th quarter collapses and an inability to be clutch when the game matters.

I will really get flamed for this take but I’ve held to it when it happened in week 5 - The reason Brissett looked drastically different than K1 is bc Petzing was on the hot seat after the Titans game, already down to his 3rd string RB, and he changed the offense to air it out - which fans had been clamoring for him to do for quite some time. We were stuck in a boring run-first offense for 2 plus years (what was the famous stat, through his first couple seasons as OC there was only 1 game where a WR went for 100 yds in a game?)

In JB’s first start against the Colts he had 44 attempts! He’s had a game this year with 57 attempts! K1 played four games this year and his highest attempts in a game was 35 and his lowest being 25.

JB has averaged 43 attempts per game while K1 averaged 30 through 4 games…that’s a huge discrepancy. I know K1 haters will say that’s bc of more first downs…there is some truth in that, but we’ll NEVER know how K1 would have responded to the change in offense by Petzing. And honestly the staff has done him dirty by not even giving him that opportunity.

This isn’t a “Kyler is the greatest” post or “we’d be winning all these games if K1 was playing”. But it is a post to defend K1 and for us to realize the problem with this team first and foremost is the staff. I said it earlier this year but starting JB was the worst thing JG could have ever done bc it proves a change in QB doesn’t change the outcome of these games.
I agree that the offense has changed to an extreamly pass heavy version. I don't think it is because Petzing is listening to the fans. RBs have been dropping like flies this season and the OL has regressed in run blocking from last season. Because of these reasons, the run game is highly ineffective this season.

1st 5 Games under Murray
Passed ~32 times / game
Rushed ~25 times /game

Last 9 Games under Brissett
Passed ~43 times / game
Rushed ~21 times / game

While I am ready to move on from Murray, I would be interested to see him run the offense as it is now.

I'd be shocked.

McDaniels is perhaps the most toxic multi-chance HC I've seen.

Two teams have already tested what McDaniels was like and he was essentially a disaster when he had a chance to run things himself.

Slanidrac, there were more than once (and twice and thrice) that I felt like watching a preseason game when I saw which players they had on the field.
Agree. That’s why judging , criticizing, blaming, calling out effort is really futile.

6 - If Gannon gets fired, and Ossenfort gets to lead the search for a replacement, I could easily see him hire his old Patriots-buddy, Josh McDaniels.
Good lord this is dark. Of all the things that could happen this offseason, this is the only scenario that would make me quit being a fan.

With all due respect, HZ, no you would not. ;) You are as cursed as the rest of us, continuing to support a team that makes us consider if life is worth living.
