“We have set fire to four points” – Liam Rosenior slams Chelsea after dropped points against Burnley

Liam Rosenior has hit out at Chelsea for “setting fire” to four points in their last two games after more dropped points against Burnley.

For the second consecutive home game the Blues failed to see out a lead, and were held to a 1-1 draw by the Clarets.

Joao Pedro opened the scoring in the fourth minute, but Chelsea couldn’t push on, and conceded a stoppage time equaliser as Zian Flemming headed home.

Liam Rosenior on Chelsea dropping points​

Once Chelsea took the lead the intensity just seemed to disappear, with the Blues not good enough both on and of the ball.

It felt like complacency had crept in, and Burnley grew in confidence after Wesley Fofana got sent off in the second half.

Chelsea have now dropped 19 points from winning positions this season, and Rosenior admitted throwing away points like in the last two games simply isn’t good enough.

“What has happened with me is we have set fire to four points from two home games,” he told his post match press conference.

“Anyone watching the game, it’s not good enough for a club of this level.

“It’s not good enough for me to come and say we were the better team. We need to be the better team in every game.

“We need to win games of football. I know what the answer is and we will address it in the week.”

Reece James substitution explained​

One decision which confused fans was Rosenior’s decision to take off Reece James with a little over five minutes of the game remaining.

Chelsea were coming under pressure and in that situation you would think leaving your captain on to help see the game out would be the right thing to do.

However, Rosenior revealed after the game he was concerned about fatigue, which is why the 26-year-old was taken off.

James should be fine for next Sunday’s game against Arsenal, and the Blues will be looking for a first win against the Gunners since 2021.
