“He’s ready” – Hansi Flick talks Roony Bardghji’s role as Lamine Yamal replacement at Barcelona

With Lamine Yamal ruled out for the rest of Barcelona’s season with a hamstring injury, Roony Bardghji will get an opportunity to play extended minutes and make his case for a place in the squad next year.

The young Swede has struggled for playing time because of Yamal’s consistent greatness, but Hansi Flick is confident Roony is ready to step into the spotlight and be a capable replacement for Lamine.

“He’s ready, of course. He was ready when Lamine was here. I’ve already said that. He’s doing well and now he’ll have more opportunities to play, although we haven’t yet decided if he’ll start in Getafe.”

Flick doesn’t like to give hints about his starting XI in press conferences so it’s normal that he won’t say that Roony is definitely starting on Saturday, but he’s the number one backup option in that position and has always been Flick’s first choice to replace Yamal in the rare moments where Lamine didn’t play.

Now it’s time for Roony to step up.
