As the Los Angeles Rams move closer to training camp, talk about a possible Aaron Donald return refuses to slow down. The latest buzz picked up after TMZ Sports filmed Donald working out at the team’s facility.

Soon after, Michael J. Babcock offered fresh details about how the session unfolded, giving fans another reason to wonder if the retired star is seriously considering a comeback.

Latest on Aaron Donald’s Workout With Rams

Donald, 35, reportedly trained for about an hour before showing signs of fatigue.

“Aaron Donald spent this afternoon on the Rams practice field,” Babcock shared on X. “Told he went through several drills over about an hour and looked gassed walking off the field. This comes amid talk the retired NFL superstar could make a comeback.”

During the workout, he went through ladder drills, medicine ball throws, and several agility exercises. While that alone does not confirm anything about his future, it showed that the former defensive tackle remains active as speculation around his next move continues to build.

“One workout at his old stomping grounds doesn’t mean AD’s unretiring, but it adds fuel to the fire,” J. Babcock added.

His update quickly spread across Rams House, as many supporters viewed it as another clue rather than a random offseason workout.

The whole comeback chatter started when the Rams pulled off a blockbuster trade for Myles Garrett. Since then, Donald has had several opportunities to shut down the rumors but has never firmly dismissed them. Head coach Sean McVay, who guided Los Angeles to its Super Bowl LVI title with Donald, has also avoided closing the door on the possibility.

Before retiring after the 2023 season, he collected three NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards, earned eight first-team All-Pro honors, made the Pro Bowl in all 10 of his seasons, and recorded 111 sacks across 154 regular-season games.

For now, nothing officially points to Donald returning to the field. For Rams, the possibility of seeing Donald line up alongside Myles Garrett while Matthew Stafford leads the offense is enough to keep the speculation alive.

The veteran quarterback put together a remarkable 2025 season, leading the NFL with 4,707 passing yards and 46 touchdown passes. He also won the MVP award and finished No. 2 in PFN’s QB Impact rankings.

Garrett also brings a historic résumé into the picture. Last season, he set an NFL record with 23 sacks and continued the consistency he has shown since entering the league in 2017. Throughout his career, he has averaged nearly one sack per game.

If Donald joined him, the Rams could field what many would consider the NFL’s most intimidating defensive line duo.

For now, Donald remains retired, and no official comeback has taken shape. Still, Rams House has every reason to dream about seeing No. 99 back in uniform.
