‘Imagine the Small Talk’ — NFL World Reacts As Mike Vrabel, Wife Jen Attend Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift’s Wedding Amid Dianna Russini Scandal

New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel attended Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s star-studded wedding at Madison Square Garden on Friday alongside his wife, Jen. Page Six shared the video of Vrabel and Jen leaving New York City’s Langham Hotel in a black SUV, with the coach in a tuxedo and Jen wearing a blue dress.

The video spread quickly across social media, where reactions came due to the scandal involving Vrabel and Dianna Russini. Given that the Patriots’ head coach has largely stayed out of the public eye since the scandal broke, his appearance at one of the most high-profile celebrity events drew immediate attention.

Mike Vrabel’s Appearance With Wife Jen Sparks Reactions

Vrabel was far from the only NFL figure in attendance at the Kelce-Swift wedding, which hosted roughly 1,000 guests inside a transformed MSG.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany, George Kittle and his wife Claire, Matthew Stafford and his wife Kelly, Tom Brady, Chris Jones, George Karlaftis, Kareem Hunt, Cooper Kupp, Mecole Hardman, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Kyle Juszczyk were all spotted at the celebration.

However, no NFL attendee’s appearance resulted in more reactions on social media than Vrabel’s. Several people were surprised to see Jen alongside him after all the drama over the last few months.

Here’s how the NFL world reacted to it:

“Imagine the small talk trap some pour soul’s going to fall into tonight. ‘Mike! Jen! How you guys doing?!’ NBA reporter Yaron Weitzman wrote on X.

“Happy for Vrabel’s wife Jen, and his wife Jen only,” Chiefs content creator Lexi said.

Rob Cassidy of Sporting News added, “My favorite polyamorous football coach!”

Another user on X said, “Lmao. So many jokes here.”

Some people also noticed that Vrabel didn’t hold the car’s door for his wife and took issue with it.

NFL content creator Chase Senior said, “Didn’t open the door for her. Smh”

“Not holding the door for the woman he cheated on is something. Narcissistic behavior,” a user wrote.

Another personon X said, “He didn’t even hold the door for his wife. How embarrassing.”

Barstool’s Captain Cons called out Vrabel and said, “How about you let your wife get in first pal. Geez. Some manners maybe.”

The controversy surrounding Vrabel dates to April 7, when Page Six published photos of him and Russini holding hands and embracing at an adults-only resort in Sedona, Arizona.

After that, the Athletic launched an internal investigation into Russini’s conduct, and she resigned on April 14. However, additional photos of the two from a New York City bar in 2020 later surfaced, and TMZ also obtained video of the pair at a boat dock in Tennessee from June 2021.

Despite the months of scrutiny, Vrabel’s job in New England remains secure. The Patriots publicly backed their coach throughout the ordeal, and the NFL said the matter did not warrant a league investigation.

The Athletic’s review of Russini’s journalism is still ongoing, but Vrabel returned to the team facility days after the draft and has been present throughout OTAs and minicamp. Based on Friday’s appearance, Jen appears to be standing by him as well, continuing the family-first approach Vrabel pledged when he committed to counseling in April during the NFL Draft.

As training camp approaches later this month, the spotlight on Vrabel won’t dim. New England opens the 2026 regular season with a Week 1 rematch against the defending Super Bowl champions, the Seattle Seahawks, and every press conference will be filled with questions about Russini.

It will be interesting to see how Vrabel navigates that scrutiny, particularly if The Athletic’s investigation produces new findings before the season begins.
