‘I don’t know who he is’ – MLB All-Star Paul Skenes not impressed by his teammate’s NBA comparison

Pittsburgh Pirates star Paul Skenes is seemingly not a fan of the NBA.

For a third consecutive year, Paul Skenes was named among the MLB All-Stars from the National League. Unfortunately, Skenes was unable to pitch in the game, as he had started in the previous Sunday game.

Skenes still made himself available for the media alongside his Pittsburgh Pirates teammate Braxton Ashcraft.

Braxton Ashcraft comparing himself to Cooper Flagg leads to a surprising admission from Paul Skenes​

During an interview with The Score, Ashcraft was asked about his NBA comparison. After giving it a thought, Ashcraft named Dallas Mavericks star Cooper Flagg as his NBA comparison.

Following that, the reporter asked for Skenes’ thoughts on Ashcraft comparing himself to Flagg. However, the Pirates pitcher clarified that he doesn’t care about the NBA.

“I don’t watch basketball. I know the name Cooper Flagg, but I don’t know who he is,” Skenes said.


Flagg is currently viewed as one of the most talented young stars in the league. Moreover, being the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Flagg is among the most popular players as well.

Still, it hasn’t been enough for Skenes to take an interest Flagg and the Mavericks’ games in the NBA.
