Brooks Koepka has no idea what was ailing him Saturday at the 2026 RBC Canadian Open, but it's something that bothered him throughout the round.
The five-time major champion, who is set to return to Shinnecock Hills next week, site of his 2018 U.S. Open victory, received treatment during the third round on his left arm and elbow.
"I don't know what it is," Koepka said after his round. "I'm struggling to grip the club with my ring finger and pinkie finger, so can't grip it. So the club is kind of just, my fingers would come loose, it was kind of numb. I don't know what the deal was but hopefully we'll figure it out."
Koepka, who opened in 64 and was two shots back of the lead entering Moving Day, slid back 25 spots on the leaderboard after a 72 put him a 6 under for the tournament and T-32.
He said it impacted his swing the entire warm-up and especially early in the round. He said he felt good all morning, but once he got to the range he wasn't able to grip the club like he wanted. His trainer was walking with him during the round and even gave him treatment on the 11th tee.
"Felt better the last few holes," Koepka said. "I don't know if that's just the meds kicked in or what it is. But hopefully we'll figure it out now."
Perhaps Sunday will be better for Koepka, but heading into the third major championship of the year at a course he won the last time the U.S. Open was contested there, the injury news is not something Koepka expected to deal with north of the border.
