Bill Simmons has doubled down on his praise for Drake Maye, ranking him ahead of Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow.
After a decent rookie year, Maye exploded in his second season, leading the New England Patriots to the Super Bowl.
He had 31 touchdowns, eight interceptions, 4,394 passing yards and a quarterback rating of 113.5 in the 2025 regular season.
Having won 23 first-place MVP votes and proven himself in the playoffs, Maye is now considered one of the NFL’s best QBs.
Simmons had explained why the Patriots quarterback is better than Burrow and Jackson ahead of the 2026 campaign.

The bold Drake Maye take Bill Simmons refuses to back away from
Bill Simmons has named Drake Maye as the fourth-best quarterback behind Josh Allen, Matthew Stafford and Patrick Mahomes.
He claimed: “I have Drake Maye fourth, which I think people would think is high. He made the Super Bowl last year and had crazy stats.”
Simmons’ podcast guest, Mina Kimes, was very surprised he ranked Maye above Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson.
Kimes responded: “You have Drake Maye over Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson?”
However, Simmons defended his take by highlighting Maye’s incredible 2025 season and the Patriots’ new additions.
“Do you know what I like? Results,” he added. “Drake Maye went 17-4 last year, and he had crazy stats. It’s not like it was some sort of fluke.
“And they added AJ Brown, who’s either the seventh, eighth, ninth, or 10th best receiver in the league. They added [Romero] Doubs. They improved the offensive line.
“Why isn’t he a top five QB again? Why isn’t he a safer bet than Lamar Jackson, who’s six years older than him?”
Simmons also tweeted: “I’m not gonna apologize for this,” as he refuses to budge on his expectations for Maye.
