New York Knicks star OG Anunoby has promoted investment in better basketball courts on his return to London.

Anunoby filmed a social media video with Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, which was posted on Wednesday morning.

The Knicks forward has a vested interest in British basketball, as he was born in London and lived there for four years.

Anunoby now wants to help young people in London play basketball and even start their NBA journey.

Knicks fans all had the same reaction to OG Anunoby’s latest appearance

Sadiq Khan announced his plan with the following statement: “Every great player starts with a stat card that looks pretty ordinary.

“That’s why we’re investing in better basketball courts with OG and the NBPA, so more young Londoners can write their own numbers.”

OG Anunoby, who recently won the 2026 NBA title with the New York Knicks, also said a few lines in the promotion video.

“Could this court produce the next NBA player? Every great player starts somewhere. Nobody starts in the NBA; they start somewhere like this.”

Given that he only lived in England for four years, it was rather surprising to hear Anunoby sound like a local.

Although Anunoby was praised for his involvement, many Knicks fans could not overlook his British accent.

“Hold up, did OG just switch his accent up like them UK actors,” one commented. “He brought the accent out for this one,” another wrote.

“He really let the British accent out in this video lol,” a third added. A Knicks fan asked: “Why is he talking British now? He’s no better than these actors.”
