This WNBA season has been a roller coaster, especially when it comes to Indiana Fever point guard Caitlin Clark. Any and all coverage surrounding Clark has become a hot-button issue in the league, whether it be Indiana’s pedestrian play in the first half of the season, Clark’s emotional outbursts during games, or her involvement in testy confrontations with the Phoenix Mercury.

Clark and the Fever will look to have a strong second half of the season, and are likely looking forward to the mental reset that will come with the WNBA All-Star break. However, more controversy around Clark has sparked online, after the sharpshooter was ranked eleventh among guards in the final All-Star player vote, per ESPN’s Alexa Philippou.

“She’s earning that respect on the floor whether they vote for it or not.”

Fans on social media, with whom Clark came in second, behind only Paige Bueckers, were outraged with the players’ final tally.

WNBA aWhy do they guard her 94ft and have multiple defenders on her?” one fan posted on X.

“I’m sorry everyone needs to be ashamed of themselves bc wtf am I reading,” someone else added.

“Players rank CC 11th among guards but triple-team her like she’s the MVP of the league. Make it make sense. She’s earning that respect on the floor whether they vote for it or not,” another fan noted.

Unfortunately, it still isn’t known if Clark will even be able to participate in the upcoming All-Star Game. She missed last year’s game with a soft tissue injury and is currently dealing with a back injury that has made her a regular on Indiana’s injury report throughout this season and kept her out of practice this week. But if she can give it a go, Clark might look to remind her fellow stars just how good sshe is.
