Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) celebrates after scoring to tie the game Friday, May 15, 2026, during the second half of a game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Washington Mystics defeated the Indiana Fever in overtime, 104-102.

Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark received a lot of criticism through the first two games of the season, in large part due to her poor three-point shooting. However, it did not take all that long for Clark to silence those critics in a big way.

Through the first two games of the season – and most of the third game – Clark was indeed struggling. Through the first two games of the season, Clark was a dismal 3-for-16 from behind the three-point line, which worked out to just 18.75% from beyond the arc. That poor shooting continued for the first three quarters against the Washington Mystics on Friday night as Clark made just 2 of 10 three-pointers entering the fourth quarter.

As a result, Clark received some heavy criticism, with one radio personality going as far as to emphatically declare that “the Caitlin Clark thing is over” before comparing her to Jeremy Lin.

However, it’s safe to say that Clark has answered those critics in a big way.

Clark Catches Fire

While Clark was undeniably struggling from three-point range to start the season, it always felt like she was always going to catch fire eventually. And she did just that.

During the fourth quarter of Friday night’s game against the Mystics, Clark put up 7 points, making 5 of 7 shots from three-point range and 6 of 8 shots overall, along with two assists, a rebound, and a steal. While it was not enough to lead her team to victory, it was still a historically dominant performance.

Clark picked up right where she left off on Sunday night, where she dominated from the start to help lead her team to victory against the Seattle Storm.

Even though she played just 24 minutes in the 89-78 win over the Storm, Clark was still able to total 21 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds while going 2-for-4 from three-point range. Clark has now made 7 of her last 11 three point shots, including some incredibly deep attempts.

‘Different Stratosphere’

While Clark was receiving some heavy criticism for her struggles, she received some high praise for her performance on Sunday.

“Caitlin generated 45+ points in 24 minutes of basketball. She’s just in a different stratosphere of production on offense,” one fan wrote in a post on X.

“People hated too early now they gotta watch history every night,” another fan added.

“They told me she was on a Linsanity run btw,” someone else wrote.

“People will look you dead in your eyes and tell you that CaitlinClark isn’t the best point guard in the league,” another fan wrote.

“Only 4 games in and the CaitlinClark haters are going MAD. it’s gonna be a long exhausting season for these idiots,” someone else added.

Clearly, Clark was able to silence her critics with her recent performances.
