Dianna Russini and Dave Portnoy

Longtime NFL insider Dianna Russini has been unemployed since a scandal involving an apparent affair with New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel led to her resignation from The Athletic back in April. However, it sounds like Dave Portnoy would hire her at Barstool Sports.

During a recent interview, Portnoy claimed that if she wanted to work at Barstool Sports, hiring her would be a “no-brainer.”

Dianna Russini, Mike Vrabel Scandal

Back in April, Page Six published photos of Russini and New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel at an Arizona resort. At the time, both denied any wrongdoing. Russini said the photos didn’t represent “the group of six people who were hanging out during the day.”

Despite denying wrongdoing, Russini ultimately resigned before an investigation concluded.

The scandal took another turn following Russini’s resignation when Page Six obtained new photos of Vrabel and Russini close together and kissing inside a New York City bar in March of 2020.

“They were kissing and they were all over each other,” an eyewitness told Page Six. “He had a ring on.”

Portnoy Would Hire Russini

While Russini is now unemployed, it sounds like she could have a job at Barstool Sports if she wanted.

“No-brainer, if she wanted to work here, we’d do it,” Portnoy said during a recent interview with Us Weekly.

Portnoy did not seem to think that the apparent affair with an NFL coach she was covering was disqualifying.

“An affair is not like a murder. It’s bad, but I’m not in the family. She’ll land somewhere, and you know, if people who have affairs are never allowed to work again in this country, you’re gonna lose a significant amount of the workforce,” Portnoy said. “It is obviously really sad, but at the same time, that’s not like a capital offense that should end somebody’s professional career.”

Russini has remained publicly quiet since her resignation and there’s been no indication that she is looking for work.
