    Free Agents

I keep thinking that we have deep pockets like last year. We still can do some damage with $10 MM. From my way of thinking we should focus on McAllister as priority #1. Would rather have Bailey but the chances of him hitting the market are slim what with Arrington extending..........Snyder can...

    Free Agents

Krang, I'm of the mind that Kearse and McAllister are all that our defense would need. If Starks can come back from his injury and we can resign Barrett at a reasonable price, our CB woes are over and our pass rush from the DE position would be solved.

    Drafting Quarterbacks

Jeff, Finally, someone has put into words what I've been feeling for some time now regarding Manning.........he just doesn't give me the wam fuzzy feeling versus guys like Elway, McNabb and Bledsoe..........add in even his brother, "Air" McNair (Syracuse), and Dante Culpepper (Central Florida).

    Cards extend Rackers

Talk about a succient summary..........some people always try and read more into things than exist. Hear ya got a new PM..........any good?

    So, let's recap...

Can't happen. Even if we finish 4-12 we'll be picking higher than #7 because of strength of schedule and losing to both Cleveland and Detroit

    #1 over all pick......

Some suggest that if SD has the #1 pick, they may use it on Fitzgerald and then jetison Boston. Marty will apparently do whatever he can to rid the team of him.......and along the way save a patload of dough without any salary cap concerns as Boston didn't have any bonus considerations to his...

    Mock Draft #1

I went and visited all the suggested Mock Drafts sites and the one that impressed me the most was the first one, www. football.com They had us taking Manning with our 1st pick (#1 overall) and Braylon Edward WR from Michigan with our 2nd round pick. They have a very thoughtful analysis behind...

    Mock Draft #1

Re: Re: Anybody? Beuller? Beuller? Mine too. I haven't read much on your thoughts regarding the Manning/BenR. debate with our first round pick. I'm all over the map when I start to think about the wisdom of selecting either of these guys.......especially if Fitzgerald comes out. I...

    This needs it's own post

If we draft a Manning or Ben R. this year with the #1 pick, you can expect that we'll have McCown until 2005 (or whenever his contract expires). If he shows anything next year, he'll bolt as a UFA before we can get anything for him as trade bait.

    May not get #1 pick

Re: Re: Re: May not get #1 pick Thanks for the clarification........this analysis makes me feel better

My take on the QB situation

I agree with you Cheese.......this was a very well thought out post........... but is Assface's point that McCown should be less nervous because......... after all "Culpepper started in his second year" (yes he did, but starting in your second year with Minnesota and Randy Moss and Cris...

    May not get #1 pick

I'm afraid that this is exactly the way it is going to play out. We will beat the Vikings because they have nothing to gain by playing their A team, especially if some of them are hurting and we are playing at home! The Raiders are losing players to injury like a cancer patient on...

    Mock Draft #1

I like your draft positionally, but beyond the third round I am unfamiliar with the various players. I'll be boning up over the next few months.

    Hey Krang-Philip Rivers

No way we tag Wilson.......tags are for the ones that you just can't afford to let get away and that is not Wilson. In answer to your question, Wilson will get better and I wouldn't be surprised to see him shine next year. We have to realize that he is effectively part of the class of 2003 as he...

    This needs it's own post

Cheese, Getting to 10 wins year after year would be nice. But does it mean that we have to pay what a #1 QB pick will cost in order to roll the dice? This is really what my point is. In years gone by, it was easier to know that the Elways of college programs were destined to greatness...

    This needs it's own post

On "franchise QB's" Please recognize the following: Peyton Manning is the best QB that the modern day Colts franchise has ever had............but he is not a "franchise QB"! You are not a "franchise QB" until your resume includes winning the games that count, time and again. The...

    Sorry People!

Re: Mediocrity Buckeye, Define the term loser and I'll respond to this part of your post...... Peyton Manning has won ****.......yes he's a good QB but he ain't no Favre....ain't no Elway......ain't no Aitman......ain't no Montana. How many of these guys were #1 picks. No Peyton...

    Musings on 2003 expectations

First off, I'm guilty with the expectation that the 2003 Cardinals would finish at 9-7 or 8-8. Go ahead and charge me for this. Here's what I didn't count on: a) I didn't realize just how incompetent our coaching staff really was/is.........from teaching young talented players how to play...

Obviously Hes going to reach 100 reception

They had better start throwing to him in the first half if they want him to break the record. What did he have in yesterday's game by halftime.........two catches on three attempts? Same as in the game against Carolina........they hardly threw to him until the second half.

Reason why we won't draft Eli

Russ........you are 100% right on with this post. Peyton has never won a big won and no other "franchise QB" in the last ten years has either (OK Elway aside, but it took him forever to accomplish it). Yet people continue to push the draft Eli and or Ben button and I don't get it. Once again...

    Sorry People!

I thought that McCown played a solid game yesterday. The only thing that I noticed was that he has to release the ball quicker than he does. No O-Line can pass protect forever and he needs to learn to see the field quicker and release sooner. Otherwise he throws well, can scramble and can take a...

    Jason White staying

Jason White will not materialize into a pro QB. If staying in school for a sixth year let's him earn a Master's degree and a second Heisman, all the while playing a game he loves for the sake of "the game", all the power to him. He can do as well financially in the real world with these...

    Draft Strategy

Adrian Wilson WILL become a top caliber safety.......(I remember those that wanted to give up on Dennis Johnson......his was a similar situation to Wilson). They both came out early and as a youngsters and we drafted them in the third round.Wilson is just learning the game at the pro level. He...

    What about fitzgerald?????

If, (and it is still an if) Fitzgerald decides to come out early (and the league endorses it), I would take him with our first pick. And here is why. Drafting rookie QB's is a crap shoot. It is easy to evaluate "athleticism" (he has the size, speed, arm strength etc.)in a college QB, but it...
