I take it the other Suns guys didn't make the cut?

Arizona State Basketball 2026-27 - Bennett Hired

Probably a good hire. In this day and age, recruiting doesn't matter nearly as much as retention (i.e, paying NIL) and actual command of basketball tutoring and in-game strategy. Hurley was a good recruiter, and had almost no skill in the other two areas. Bennett certainly has the latter skill...

News from around the NBA 2025-2026

Wowser, he's freaking 70? Uggh, does that make me feel old. I remember his rookie year when Sweet D and Bernard King were newbies, too.

That seemed to be the assessment of him in Houston, too. He may end up being this generation's version of Allan Houston, or someone like that.

Indeed. I can vividly picture both scenarios in my mind.

    ASU Men's Basketball 2025-26 Season

But it's a perfect summary, and this entire season was about as an apt a distillation of Hurley's career here as you could possibly imagine. Good roster on paper, great start to the year, terrible middle of the year once conference play started, and finally a mini-rally at the end to finish up...

Devin Booker will re-evaluated in one week (hip strain)

I agree... and I think most of it has to do with the ultra ridiculous big ass money all pro athletes make these days. I guarantee their agents and personal managers force them to sit out for extended periods every time they get a minor ouch because the risk of exacerbating any minor injury...

Anti-tanking Proposals from NBA Competition Commissioner

They should make the lottery odds tier based. All the teams that won under say 25 games are one tier with equal odds, then 25 to 30 wins are another tier, then 31 to missed the playoffs are another tier.

    ASU Men's Basketball 2025-26 Season

I think they would pretty much have to win out to have a shot at making the tournament. That's excluding the B12 tourney, although a big run there would also help their cause. The NIT might be more realistic.

Well, that explains a lot about why Memphis was so eager to dump him all of the sudden.

OT: Jeremy Sochan released by the Spurs

I'm not saying he will be a guaranteed game changer or anything like that. But knowing how things typically go, I can see the Suns passing on him and then getting hit by a spate of bad luck injuries in the front court the last half of the season, and everyone going "geez, if we had only picked...

KJ, Stoudemire, D’antoni nominated for the HOF

KJ had been a finalist in past years, though his support fell off some in recent votes. But with pretty light competition this year, I have to think both he and Stoudemire have a pretty good shot. I would take both over Blake Griffin. I think Buck Williams and vet committee pick Marques Johnson...

OT: Jeremy Sochan released by the Spurs

But it can't hurt to test drive him the rest of the year. And with the Suns' penchant for injuries, there will probably be PT available at some point.

Mavericks @ Suns Tuesday game thread, 2-10-2026

Makes me wonder what the all time NBA single game FT disparity is. I would wager it's a pretty modern record and the Lakers, Celtics, Spurs, or Warriors are on the high end of it. Okay, looked it up and sure enough it wasn't any of those teams. Instead, it was the Bulls in a 1970 game, when...

    Suns 2025-2026 Season Discussion

These gimmicky ASG side exhibitions have probably run out of gas. After the first few guys who were barely even playing in the league started winning the dunk contest, that should have been the tipoff the novelty had worn out.

Not really dumping on Maye personally. I have nothing against him. Josh McDaniels, NE fans, and (especially) Bob Kraft, on the other hand... very happy to see them all lump it.

Super Bowl LX: (2) Patriots vs. (1) Seahawks

Currently, this New England team looks like they will challenge for the honor of worst team ever to participate in a Super Bowl. Heck, if Seattle wins, they might arguably be the worst team ever to win a Super Bowl, too.

Super Bowl LX: (2) Patriots vs. (1) Seahawks

Pretty much knew that would be the case when they struggled to get past a fairly mediocre Broncos team that was further hampered by having to use their bad backup QB.

    Jalen Green 'Preciation Thread

At this point, I'm not sure how much of it is Green himself and how much is the Suns training staff. The Suns seem to have a history of guys going out with minor to not so minor injuries and then taking forever to get back on the court consistently. Green is far from the only example.
