Interesting bit of info I read was that the animals were deliberately supposed to look less than real, because they weren't really animals, they were aliens disguised as animals.

Sounds like it could be an after-the-fact excuse, but it's Spielberg, so that IS possible.

man... I think that's ridiculous. they looked like cartoons.

so far, everyone who's seen the movie in the room I'm currently working in has thought the same thing... epic misfire of a movie.

and the more I think about it, the less sense it makes. I also think it's written by someone who seemingly doesn't really understand the time we're in. Videos of UFA/UFO's and congressional testimony is everywhere now... and it's still just background noise with the rest of the internet. That's how insane the world has gotten. There's seemingly nothing that brings the world to a standstill at this point.

Well, we haven't seen an alien on a live camera feed. Yet. And I'm not counting Stephen Miller.

I dunno Chap...I know a few fellas that say they have a storage locker full of evidence that the reptillians have been among us for over a century and have direct control over our media.

so we might be seeing aliens on camera every time we watch 20/20 or CNN

lol... a movie that's still just as relevant today as it was when it came out... if not more so.

truly one of the most searing, brilliant Poli Sci Fi flicks ever disguised as a trashy B movie.
Absolutely! Give him a budget and A-list actors--no patch on those involved--and we're talking awards.

Not to mention it encompassed the entirety of the acting career of Rowdy Roddy "Hot Rod" Piper....His acting in so many ways kinda made that movie.... the other movies he didnt really do any acting in...he just kinda showed up.
They Live ranks right up there with Starship Troopers as the very best in "B" movies to make cult status

...oh, and as you mention...they maintain their relevance even 40 years later

Piper was an underrated action star! If he had made more movies in stead of wrestled, he might still be making them!
