Look at Ayton for an example of a guy thrown in the deep end too soon. You need to ease young bigs along. The coaching staff knows and sees far more than we do. They need to learn the speed and style of the game. Part of that can be picked up on the G-League but most is learned from the big league. Give them some time. They should be ready to go halfway through the year, if not a little sooner, to play a regular role.
He actually has some of his best stats early in his career. The Most games he ever played in a season was his rookie season, until just last year. His problem was he thought he was great to begin with. You never have to improve your game if you are already great, or it seems like that was his thinking.

At the beginning of next season, it's likely both Maluach and Fleming will be deep rotation players. One can hope for more, but it's unlikely.

Now, by the middle of next season, they should have moved up the ladder to be regular rotation players or the Suns made a draft mistake. The Suns need at least one more 4/5 ready to play now.

After the trade deadline the Suns defense was regrettable. How much of that was on Ott, I don't know. However, the effort should have been there every night. I didn't see it every game though.
Still, when you are developing rookies, you can work them in 5 or ten minutes here and there. You can only learn so much in life by just observing anything. You need to try to do things if you want to learn.

They definitely need to play and learn. I view it as a transition phase more than anything else.

They will need to be an integral part of the Suns future if the team is to improve.

A lot of guys here argue they were not ready to start. I get that. They could have come off the bench as second unit guys. Or the third guys off the bench to fill minutes. Not saying they had to start, but they certainly could have played more minutes. I do like how our rookies said they valued their G League minutes. At least it wasn't a full wasted season.

I do agree the rookies could have played more after the All-Star Break because the Suns defense was terrible. It couldn't have been much worse on offense or defense.

Ayton being thrown in too soon WAS NOT Ayton's main problem. That dude is proving it every single day. His dome is not screwed on right. He has an overinflated value of his worth and ability. He can't focus. That has nothing to do with being throw in too early.

The typical trait of someone thrown in too early is a destruction of their confidence. "DominAyton" has never had that problem. He does nothing but "HalucinAYTON".

I think I've said it before but Ayton was getting a lot of opportunities as a rookie where he was the focal point. Go back and watch his rookie highlights and that is the only year I have seen him do some of those moves. Since then he has regressed and I believe he thought he was going to be the focal point going forward.

Trading for Ja Morant never really made a lot of sense. However a slight change to the rumor with Suns being involved in a Ja Morant trade may be true and actually make sense.

This offseason league-wide seems like it's going to be WILD. The Suns can take advantage of that by being the 3rd or 4th team in a bigger trade.

Klay Thompson’s preferred destinations if he gets moved are Miami, Orlando, Houston, Phoenix and San Antonio.

The Suns are a team to monitor as a potential trade suitor for Miles Bridges.

Phoenix was close to acquiring Bridges at the 2024 deadline before it fell through.

Phoenix could end up joining the Kings and Hornets as a facilitator in active Domantas Sabonis trade discussions.

They are saying on X it would be Dunn for Bridges.

Not sure how I feel about that. Bridges is a better basketball player, but a worse human, and is older. It's basically giving up on Dunn. It could be the right move basketball wise, but it doesn't seem like a very big needle mover.

Of course, we all know the most obvious reason the Suns might be willing to throw in with Bridges in spite of his baggage.

The Suns have zero need of either Miles Bridges or Klay Thompson. Brooks is better than Bridges, Allen is better and younger than Thompson and Allen is more of a target of trading him away than duplicating him.

Giving up Dunn for Bridges would be extremely stupid.
I'm not sure how I feel about Dunn after this past season but yeah, I'd hate it if we moved him for this guy.

Miles is a great player but not a power forward. I do think he is better then Brooks. I don't know who said Dunn for Miles but Charlotte would never do that

Poor Dunn! He didn't have a down season, he just didn't progress as much as the other players. I think his potential is still there, he just needs to adapt to Ott's coaching style.

I predict he'll make a big jump next year and become a major part of the rotation. He and Fleming are gonna be force together on defense.

I still trust that he will improve.

In fact, I think that he improved this past season. He became (a bit) more assertive and a better passer while his efficiency also got better. I still consider him as a future all NBA-defender so all in all, I did not lose faith in him.
