Love - This one is easy. In fact driving fan interest maybe the primary reason for drafting Love. A dynamic offensive weapon; it will be interesting to perhaps see different ways to use him. It’s been a long times since the Cards had a runner with this skill set. Consider Demercado’s huge runs. Those happened because Demercado could hit a small hole quickly. I suspect Love will display a similar talent. Plus Love has far more power to break tackles and he’s much shiftier. Add in the fact Love is an exceptional receiver. If a Cards QB can hit him in stride, Love’s always a threat to put 6 on the board.

MLF’s Offense - It’s not clear that the Cards have a QB who can execute MLF’s offense. There’s no Stafford-like talent on this team. It’s not even certain who will be playing QB. The current collection has obvious defects. Brissett is a statue, but has decent arm strength. I don’t expect him to be here. The other 2 possible starters lack arm strength. Nonetheless it will be fun to see some creative plays. However, until MLF gets a QB, MLF may hold back some of his ideas. In fact we may not see Love as a major receiving threat except out of the backfield until next season.

Nolen - Well it’s looking more like my info on his knee was wrong. I take full responsibility as I liked the source. On the other hand I’m hopeful he can stay healthy this season. If he can, it changes the dynamic of the Dline dramatically. The Cards have elected to go with a younger, more athletic line. If Proctor can bring the penetration skills he showed in college to the NFL, this line could be better than expected.

Harrison - I know some believe the bar is now set quite low for the expected Harrison performance. It’s tough because I think Harrison still has the potential to be a deeper threat, but I’m not confident either remaining QB has the arm strength to support his best routes. Nonetheless I expect Harrison to succeed. Legacy players typically find a way to do so. MLF knows how to maximize assets and I think with increased offensive diversity, Harrison will prove to be an asset.

Oline - The Cards have made extensive changes to this unit. If this team is to improve; it starts here. Not only facilitating the run game, but giving the QB a chance to throw is critical. I think the improvement at guard will pay dividends. Putting more agile guards beside Froholdt should help secure the A gap. Both QBs are stronger at shorter throws, so a quick decision and release will be critical. The threat Love represents should slow the run and enhance play action. If the Oline can even create small holes, that should be enough for Love to make an impact.

Beck - If you’ve read my posts you know I’m not a big Beck fan. Poise under pressure is my biggest concern. Hopefully my theories about the game plan will inspire the needed self confidence in Beck to execute. If he can deliver the ball to the receivers with good placement he might just be enough to make this offense work. I don’t expect a high scoring attack, but if they can sustain pressure and rest the defense, the Cards could be more threatening.

I’m not trying to tell you the Cards are going to storm forward producing a winning record. I do think they can show enough incremental improvement to give hope to next year for a contending team. There will be stuff to cheer about and some fun times to experience. Live in the moments is the best I can offer.

one more for me:

Cardinal OCD

I get emotionally invested in pre season games. Even though i know they dont mean anything, I cant help it.

At the end of last season when I knew they had to lose, emotionally I wanted them to win.

My expectations haven't been this low since Josh Dobbs was the starter. Yet on opening day, I will be watching.
