I love the idea of us taking high-percentage shots.

It was immensely frustrating watching Bobby's teams just jacking everything up as shots continued to miss.

It will be interesting to see if Bennett modifies his more deliberate style of play if ASU attracts more talent.

The first comment by a Gaels fan in the above podcast was quite interesting.

Well, I don't think they could've hired anyone better at this point. He will get a pretty talented team on the floor next year. But I really do wonder about his teams style of play in the Big 12.

I watched the NCAA tournament game against the Aggies from start to finish. St. Mary's was much bigger and had better shooters overall going into that game. But A&M punched them in the mouth early, forced a huge amount of turnovers, and even dominated in the paint. They were just a lot more physical and the Gaels were never really in it at all in the second half. I kept expecting some kind of adjustment and a run, but it just never happened. Nobody in college ball presses the entire game like Bucky McMillan but I thought I would see a better game plan from Bennett.

That is only one game so I am not going to say he sucks because of it. But I sure wanted to see something better than that game knowing ASU would hire him if they could.

Ugh. Bennett is hospitalized at Mayo Clinic with an unknown situation. Sounds like he's okay, but that's what they all say.

Yeah, not a good start in that regard, especially with the debate around his age. Hopefully something minor...

Wonder if he stopped into Filiberto's before going to campus?

Bennett is a good coach but the health thing is a concern. FWIW Croy the guard by now people get that they hired his dad the Cal Baptist coach as an assistant and what's been said on UCLA boards is Croy is the Coach in waiting for ASU so I don't think Bennett is intended to be a long term hire maybe a few years and then Croy takes over.

Bennett's MO at St Mary's was a combination of local kids and a ton of foreign kids. He had a bunch of australian guys and then shifted more to I think Serbians.

in this day and age with all the transfers it's not necessarily a bad thing

Arizona State will hire Cal Baptist head coach Rick Croy as an associate head coach on Randy Bennett’s men’s basketball staff, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

Croy has led the Lancers to a 143-108 (.570) record over the last eight seasons since joining Division 1 in the Western Athletic Conference, along with a 132-29 (.820) record in his final five years leading the program at the Division 2 level.

No word yet on Paulius Murauskas. :( I wonder where Diop will end up. He's almost certainly not running it back in Tempe, unfortunately.

I'm guessing Diop is getting paid good NIL money because he has NBA talent now.
