I am still worrisome on their trades. Drafting and picking up free agents, they seem solid. Williams, seems like overpay. We give up an unprotected first for Bridges. Seems like they just need to tighten up on trades a bit.

Suns are like a football team with a wide open offense. "No risk it, no biscuit."

But that's the attitude that got them into a mess in the first place.

Let's run a good RPO (run-pass-option) offense, which I think is what the Suns are doing now, instead of a Hail Mary approach.

Every time someone lamented us not having picks I reminded they did. I also reminded them ish has proven to be creative. Did I know we’d have this kind of (seeming) success (I know it’s early to call these guys successes)? Of course not. But I was pretty steady in stating it (the KD trade, from a future perspective - the actual KD debacle was pretty obvious to everyone here) wasn’t a total abject failure . . . yet. So far it’s trending in my favor.
We get so worried about how many picks we have. The more important question is what do you do with those picks. The Nets had 5 first round picks in 2025 and really don't have a lot yet to show for it.

I had posted this on the Highsmith thread, but it probably is better here. Jordan Ott has a minutes problem. This is my prediction for minutes played this year (total, not per game) without anticipating any injuries.

1. Dillon Brooks
2. Devin Booker
3. Miles Bridges
4. Jalen Green
5. Oso Ighadoro (He will back up Williams and Maluach)
6. Mark Williams (game management)
7. Khaman Maluach
8. Rasheer Fleming
9. Colin Gillespie
10. Ryan Dunn
11. Jordan Goodwin
12. Derek Kennard
13. Koa Peat

For all you Koa fans, he will have to move ahead of Ryan and Sheer in the depth chart just to get into regular rotation minutes. Ott loves Oso. He will play. Goodwin is now the 11th man. Yes. I know you don't like it. It's just the numbers. He is not playing ahead of CG. Maybe he plays ahead of Dunn. Brea and Highsmith won't see playing time.

I was wrong about Highsmith I thought he would be a solid backup.
I thought the same thing too and was initially surprised we were letting him go. But I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him return soon if the offers aren't out there for him. If he's healthy and shows it, he'd be very easy to move in a midseason deal. And with his contract, he'd be a real steal (if he's fully recovered).

have you ever told a girl we should see other people? and then have her come back after doing so?

do you leave your keys on the front seat of your car with the windows down in a giant parking lot and expect it to still be there in a week?

haywood highsmith is gone - only question is why - why is probably a who - who has yet to reveal themselves - atleast that's the way i figure it but we haven't signed anyone

I think we know why but if you don't believe Gambo knows what he's talking about, you might feel otherwise. Gambo said that we have interest in bringing him back if he clears waivers.

i think if we had true interest we would've kept highsmith

i think he went from choosing the suns to the suns now being the last place he wants to be - because players are human

What makes you think they didn't have a discussion with him and he was good with the plan? He's getting guaranteed money from the Suns. Maybe it's in both parties best interests.

It's possible but it's also possible he understands the situation. I do NOT think he will come back to Phoenix. But if he does, it will likely include the understanding that we will try and find him enough minutes to show the league he has value. If he's on a minimum deal and shows he's returned to form, we might be able to pair him with Peat, Green or Dunn to upgrade a position of need.

Gambo says Highsmith may be back. I also heard it on another podcast where the podcaster said he thought the Suns were freeing a roster spot to make a trade, and supposedly asked a Suns insider he couldn't name, and was told the team may be bringing him back.

This all depends on Rasheer's three point shooting. If he is making them, he's probably the first PF off the bench. I assume Bridges is a lock at starter, at least to start with. I admit, I didn't see how Brooks would fit, but he was the poster guy for our new identity. So I am giving the club some leeway on the Bridges thing.

The org last season after we signed him was pretty adamant that the signing was really for this coming year and not for the one we were currently in. That's why I was a bit surprised by the move last week.

Brooks gets in too much foul trouble to be at the top. He has to sit out a good chuck of a half almost every other game.

I think Goodwin is going to get waaaaay more minutes than that, as is Collin, they're the backup guards and Goodwin will also play some 3. With the centers eating into each other's minutes, I think Goodwin is probably going to be closer to 5th in minutes than 10th.

I hope Fleming is that high, but I'd be surprised.

I feel bad for Dunn, he's a real hard worker and he's not a bad player but I don't know how he finds a rotation spot on this team.

I think Kennard's defensive deficiencies and lack of much of anything besides shooting is going to land him a lot of "DNPs", basically I think you've got him in the right spot.

Peat is such a clever player on offense, especially with his passing, and he is a smoooooth scorer inside of 10 feet. I think it's going to be really hard to keep him on the bench. I agree that early in the season, he's not going to see much action, but at some point he's going find his way in a couple games and if he's in with the right guys (as in dudes that move off the ball and don't dribble it to death), he could really shine.

We have a lot of depth but after Booker at the top, a lot of it kind of meshes together. We've got some guys who are kinda good at everything but not great at anything (Brooks, Goodwin), some guys who are good a few things but have some major hole that makes them hard to play in a lot of situations (Oso, Green) and then just a lot o solid depth but not quite starters, yet.

Thats kinda what it looks like to me too... Like we got a bunch of B+ players, or...dudes that would be top 6 on most rosters.. but stars?? Dudes that are going for scoring titles, all star games,...records,...dudes that dominate or take over games...we are kinda light on that. we got the one dude but he doesnt seem to stay available at that level for long.

I been out of the game for a while so Im still learning who a lot of these guys are...and how they are playing the game these days... But it seems to me we have a really strong lineup for a half court game, ... but I dunno...half court ball has never really been the Suns thing...they always been at their best creating turnovers and scoring off the break...
but do we got dudes with fast enough hands to creat fast break opportunities?? I mean, we added in some blocks... but that alone wont fuel a bunch of chances..we need steals... do we have that on the roster?

I don't know if they're mostly B+ players but we appear to have a full roster of players that want, need or expect minutes. And I'm not sure that's a recipe for success but if you can get buy-in from each of them, that's going to give us incredible depth.

This looks to be an intriguing season for us. But unless some of our young guys really take the next step, just making the playoffs is likely our ceiling. There is hope for more though. I know it was just preseason but Maluach looks like he could be an elite center in the very near future and he's already backing up one of the best centers we've ever had. If Fleming also shows out and we stay fairly healthy, this becomes a real contender IMO.
