It sucks that we get match ups like this and ones like Down Under vs Cradle of Love. If only those two matchups were mixed…

Indeed! It's a pretty flawed top 500 list I'm working from. I couldn't find anything better though, except for MTV's list from the 90s.

There are a LOT of missing great videos, so once we're through round one I'm gonna give everyone an opportunity to suggest any favorite videos that were left off the list. I'll match them up against some of these stinkers that won due to an awful matchup like above.

its like they just picked some random ass videos...or bands even..some of them I never even heard of the band...how can it be in competition for the best if I never heard of it??
I aint claiming im a musical savant or anything...but if it was even big within its own genre, then people outside that genre have heard of it.
example...
"You Shook Me All Night Long" by AC/DC..... I have been to rocker parties, Hip Hop Parties,...New Wave parties...and when this son comes on...even the emo Morrissey fans start rocking out...the hard core gangst rappers start flowing...the country boys start feelin a little bit rock and roll...
great music...it transcends genre..it is universal

Even though I've heard of most of these artist and songs It does have a bit of a random feel too it. I get the sense that someone made something like a top 200 list and then their editor made them pad it out to 500. They just added anything to get the number up.

Remember thought it's all time videos, not songs. There are some great songs that had duds for videos and some great videos made for bad songs. AC/DC has never been known for their videos even though they rock. OK Go usually has really fun and creative videos but their music isn't as good.
