Suns coach Chaisson Allen said they're going to be smart with Khaman Maluach, Rasheer Fleming and Koa Peat, but said they need as many as many reps as possible.

Added CJ Huntley (right hamstring) is having a good rehab process, but didn't commit to him playing in Vegas. #Suns

Hmm. Doesn't sound like they will be pulled. Maybe reduce minutes?

He's the one guy I believe has shown enough to be sat the rest of the way. Would like to see a bit more from Flemming on offense.
If they shut Peat down, I would be OK with that. Not happy. But OK. Peat has shown us what his game is. Unless the coaches have a particular thing they have him working on that needs more in game reps.

The shot. IDK why they effed with it. Peat is smooth around the paint and baseline when he shoots. Maybe there was a hitch further out, but why wouldn't you have him shoot the way he does in the paint and baseline. Those shoots look good. Good form. Smooth delivery. Just have him move his shot two feet further out every couple months, or so. Just slowly expand what he's already doing well.

The next step in Man Man’s development is to add bulk. As productive as he was, he got pushed around a lot.

He should be able to do that easily given his age and frame.

Fleming needs Man Man to show him some defense down low. LMAO. Fleming turned his back on the shooter. Unique move.

That kid on NO is a beast, and I said to myself that was a grown man move he made on Flem.

Fleming has shown why he wasn't thrown in the deep end vs the Thunder in the playoffs. The sky is the limit for that kid but I'd rather they bring him along slowly and stick to whatever plan they have than throw him out there to get embarrassed. I have little doubt he would have been embarrassed if he saw rotation minutes in round 1.

I believe Khaman is closer to regular minutes than Fleming, which makes sense given where they were drafted and how much hype surrounded them before the draft.

Peat is the most mature of the 3. He needs to improve his footwork on D when facing smaller players, like taking a lesson or two from Fleming. Other than that, he just needs reps on court to improves on all the details required for NBA games.
ManMan has already nice 3pt range and steadily been improving on all facets of the game. Main deficit is still some body stamina and coordination, to hold onto the ball and avoid simple pass TOs.
Fleming's D is already starter level, definitely better than Dunn's. But ball handling skill is still rudimentary. His court time is determined by how badly Ott needs his D and how his 3pt touch is in any game.
Future is bright for all 3.

I don't know. This "bring them along slowly" is often an excuse for not bringing them along at all. Players need playing time to develop. They need to be pushed.

The Suns (1-1) play again tomorrow (Monday) at 7 PM Arizona time against the Bucks (0-1).

The game will be on ArizonaFamily (channel 32) and Prime video among the options to watch.

I can see the excuse of not bringing them along at all if it wasn't evident by their play in Summer League, G-League, and limited minutes last year. We've seen it happen, if you looked for it.

I trust the front office knows what they're doing. There have been bigs thrown in the deep end that have failed because they weren't ready for that stage, see Marvin Bagley, Mo Bamba, James Wiseman, and even Ayton. You have to balance the physical with the mental. With bigs they're entering a new world as everywhere they played before their size typically gave them an edge against the competition, even if the competition was more skilled. Making sure they're mentally ready makes sure that once they're called up that they're ready to stay in the rotation and contribute.

Fleming is going to get run this season. The minutes are still tight though, since we brought in Bridges.

I keep thinking Wes Unseld and Koa Peat have similar body types. So I asked AI:

"Similar Builds: Koa Peat is a 6-foot-7, 245-pound forward SI Draft Report, which perfectly matches Wes Unseld's exact rookie measurements of 6-foot-7 and 245 lbs."
Seriously, though, I think Wes was quite a bit bigger than 245 (and possibly not even as tall as 6-7). They did used to routinely over estimate player height (and conversely, likely underestimate weight) back in the day before scouting combines.

If you ever watched Unseld play, he looked a lot closer to probably 260 or 270. And the game was much slower paced back then, so pulling that kind of weight didn't hamper a post guy so much. I would imagine the Suns probably don't want Peat to get too Unseld- like in this day and age.
