Egypt's coach is really complaining about this. Both the VAR decision (which looked correct to me) and the missed opportunity for VAR (I don't know much about that one, I didn't see it yet).

The vikings were mostly farmers. Makes sense since everything was agrarian back then. Viking dreams...

I've become a Haaland stan during this year's WC. I am hoping that I have at least one Norwegian ancestor in my lineage

He's a giant POS. Good riddance

BREAKING: The Egyptian FA has officially filed a complaint with FIFA after their defeat to Argentina, requesting an investigation into referee François Letexier and his team.

They also asked FIFA to remove referee Letexier from the rest of the tournament.

Bidding for the U.S. media rights to the 2030 FIFA World Cup could start at $1 billion, sources tell FOS.Fox Sports got the English language rights for the current World Cup at the bargain price of $485 million. But after record ratings, it's now a seller's market for FIFA.
But this world cup the times the games played in the same time zone for this region. Next world cup is being played in Spain, Portugal and Morocco while also having three matches in Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraquay so games times are going to late at night so wonder how the viewership numbers will be.

I didn't see the Egypt Argentina game was asleep but Egypt is now formally complaining of bias by the refs. I suspect they're wrong but this is a side effect of what Trump did by getting INfantino to overturn the red card, nobody now trusts FIFA.

Based on people I know, Argentina was the legit winner but it's another example of why tha red card reversal was handled so poorly.

I do not think there was anything controversial in the calls.

I thought the VAR to take away the Egypt goal was harsh, but it was a foul that led to them gaining possession. it should have been called on the pitch, I don't understand how so many blatant fouls are being missed or not given in this World Cup. I think FIFA has botched this World Cup by trying to let players be more physical. they are swallowing their whistles on the norm and then when they do call a normal foul it is inconsistent with all the no calls. they are also not giving out clear yellow cards with any type of consistency.

It might be that. but countries always complain about the refs in the World Cup. the difference this time is we saw FIFA overturn a ref decision which opens a pandoras box for everyone to complain.

I think Egypt have a lot of sour grapes and are being sore losers. They blew a 2-0 lead with very little time left. Argentina don't only win because of the refs, they win because they are good and always have been. Egypt were never expected to win that game. Frankly I'm surprised they won their last game before that.

You can argue it was on the harsh side. I agree. But it’s not like it wasn’t there.

anyone care to take a shot at picking the quarterfinal games?

I think France, Belgium, England, and Argentina advance.
