Ok, we had a good food discussion. So, we're all waiting for camp and preseason. In the meantime, what's your favorite comedy/drama/horror movie and music.

My go to comedy is Airplane or Blazing Saddles. My friend's mom took us to see Blazing Saddles when we were 14. The campfire fart scene came up, and we were laughing so hard, I thought she was going to faint.
The only scarry movie that made me jump was Carrie, at the end of the movie when the hand came up out of the grave. I almost broke my girlfriend's neck....good times. LOL

Edit: I just remembered. Ironically, Carrie was the name of my first and second girlfriend

I had the opposite experience with Blazing Saddles. My mom took me and a buddy to see it in the theater - I was 11 I believe - she specifically took me because she thought that campfire fart scene was the funniest thing she had ever seen. I just sat there shaking my head. I've never thought that kind of humor was funny; she still does (she'll be 89 in September).

To each his each, I suppose.

Airplane is a fun film. So are the Naked Gun films with Leslie Nielsen along with the Vacation films with Chevy Chase.

For some reason I've never been able to sit through Blazing Saddles. I need to make a point of doing it.

Let’s just do movie talk for a minute here; we’ll get to music.

Comedy: 40 Year Old Virgin. That movie makes me laugh. Practically have it memorized. Is it weird my favorite comedy came out when I was in my 20s?

Drama: man I dunno. This isn’t really my genre to be honest. Does Heat count? I worked at a blockbuster when i was like 18 and walked through almost the entire AFI 100. None of them jump to mind. Casablanca bangs.

Horror: I actually don’t like this genre much, either. But if Alien qualifies, that’s what I’d say.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that you don't find farts funny. You've missed so much joy in life. How can you have fun with your grandchildren if you can't say "pull my finger"??

Blazing Saddles is one of the smartest, rawest, most savagely hilarious takedowns of America ever written. The fart scene is for mouth breathers who totally miss the point of the rest of the movie.

We agree on a lot of the movies except we have different taste in comedy.

I'd like to watch Braveheart again, but the sad ending prevents me from revisiting it.

In sports, I like The Natural, Jerry McGuire and James Caan in Rollerball.

I’ve talked about my favorite old school movies to death. Instead I’m going to list my favorite movies from the last 10 years:

Arrival: Incredible, thought provoking science fiction.

Barbarian: Best horror movie and first time directing debut of the decade.

A Star Is Born: another really impressive directorial debut, amazing acting performances all around and an absolutely smashing first 45 minutes… and pretty good rest of movie.

Get Out: Horror, Satire, Original. Didn’t see coming at all.

Sinners: great Historical Action/Horror movie with message to boot.

Mission Impossible: Fallout: Best Action movie of the century tied with…

Mad Max: Fury Road - pure chaos.

Spotlight: modern day All The President’s Men, about when the press could actually still kinda make a difference.

Ladybird: great coming of age movie. Made me believe Greta Gerwig could do anything.

Poor Things: Just a bananas take on Frankenstein from Yorgos Lanthimos and an unhinged performance by… Jesus… my memory is getting bad. Emma Stone?

The Holdovers: When Alexander Payne hits his sweet-spot, no one does dramedy any better.

Yeah for comedy I just want quotable one liners and rewatchability.

I truly believe Eurotrip is one of the funniest movies ever made

The Arrival is a very good movie.

Get Out should be on my honorable mentions. Still haven't see Sinners, the downside of having a 10 year old but my expectations is it leaps into my top 4. I think Mad Max Fury Road has some good action scenes but overall I don't want to rewatch any Mad Max movies.

I actually actively dislike all the Mission Impossible movies to the point I stopped watching like 5 years ago. It's the Fast and Mission Furious Impossible. The same movie every time.

Your final 4 havent seen, only heard of poor things.

As far as horror films, the unedited version of The Exorcist and The Shining are at the top of my list.

I have a brand-new DVD of The Exorcist and will not watch it. And horror films roll off of me like water.

I watched The Shining for the first time as an adult a few years ago. Damn…what a film. I’ve been wanting to watch The Exorcist for a long time as well. One of the few films that scared me as a kid.

Wow, you guys are really bringing back memories.
Home Alone and Christmas Vacation, we watch every holiday
The Legend of Bagger Vance, Happy Gilmore, Tin Cup
Clue
Jaws, another once a year favorite
Almost all Clint Eastwood movies...Not so fun fact: My wife wanted to watch Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, I said no and she said it's a Clint Eastwood movie, I said let's go. An hour into this thing I said where the hell is Clint. And she said he directed it. Almost the most worthless 2 hrs of my life, except for There Will Be Blood...what a hook. Yeah, there was blood 2 1/2 later. 10 minutes of good preceded by crap. JMO
