WHY IT MATTERS
if you joined a 30 team fantasy league with a $400 admission and $12,000 prize for the title winner (based on statistical performance under a salary cap), no one would want Devin Booker.
the truth is, despite the media manipulations in the AZ market, Booker is a poor value. Yet, the truth messenger is attacked and the thread is asked to be "cancel-cultured." And the "negativity" narrative fails too. Otherwise past Durant, Ayton, Nurkic, CP3, and coaching critics or disrespecters could have faced similar censorship and personal attacks.
oh well, it's just a game, right? The problem is, it applies to every aspect of society. Coincidentally, i just saw this quote on FB from a former KGB dis-information expert on the process of ideological subversion:
if someone would unleash irrational, personal vitriol on a neighbor, who, like them, wants what's best for the home team, but disagrees about one basketball player, how would they react to the propaganda about brothers and sisters identified with other religions, races, politics, etc.?
you're seeing the dismantling of reality and civility all around you, step by step. In regards to the Suns, you're seeing one owner running a disinformation campaign to keep you buying jerseys, sneakers, and tickets, and advertiser's products for short-term gain instead of sacrificing some of today's profits for longer term viability in the sport.
in society, you're seeing nothing short of the dismantling of democracy. But that's a discussion for the politics thread. Though i must add this urgency...
a.i. is the most significant invention in history. It could save human life on earth. But based on the public's willingness to allow short-term profiteers to control it and feed us misinformation and lies, it will likely be our destruction. At this rate, it will be a matter of a few years before we're at the deceptor's mercy.

YOU and I own the Suns. We pay the player's salary. But you allow a middle-man to run the team and exploit the true owners for his own benefit.
The nba players have a player's union to protect them against owner greed. Imagine if you had that protection.
1. Players would make a few million and be delighted to get the fame and adoration playing the game they love and still be able to live like a millionaire.
2. Tickets, jersey's, etc.. would be fairly priced so everyone working for the Suns is paid a living wage.
3. Profits above expenses would go back to the community (instead of a player photo op next to one basketball court they build for the needy, local kids could get the healthcare every other developed nation provides for their kids, etc.)
4. Instead of you scrambling from one service subscription to another to watch a sports game, they would be broadcast from one station with limited commercial interruptions.
5. Manager's and even player's could be publicly voted on periodically, like the all-star game, but with the same technology that protects banking online.
it is ALL extremely doable. You just need to be able to resist the smoke-screeners and suppressors they corrupt with their distractions and static. Right now, together, WE have THE POWER OF THE PURSE, even if they manipulate the vote.
i'm not the enemy here. i'm on your side. and we're all on the same team -- currently being run in basketball, as in society, by people who's long term interests are in direct conflict with our own.
this, my friends, has been a public service announcement. which you likely already knew, but hesitate to admit due to peer pressure to "fit in."

you know better than anyone, that for 7 years, including yesterday, i've been saying Booker's key problem is poor decision making in crunch-time, in particular, taking 3's when we only need 1 or 2 to win.
and i always said i'm ok with Booker missing a shot, as long as it's a good shot. Neither the one he made yesterday or the air ball tonight was a good decision
the reason we are back to being the best clutch shooting team since under CP3's leadership is that we have 3 other guys who have been clutch and the ball was moving to them.
WTF, is the new coach thinking to let one on one, Booker-ball back after the success we've had moving away from that?
the grand irony, is that, tonight, Durant-ball beat Booker-ball! Durant took all the heat last season but at least he was more capable, as he's been his whole career.

facts matter. The fact is, in 7 years i have never shared that stat in any format. Here's another never shared before or shown on Suns TV or radio or in the Booker Appreciation thread:
now, if you wanted to honestly complain about redundancy, count how many times Booker's point rankings appear in the Booker Appreciation thread. As i type Suns TV is pumping Booker's stats.
i'll grant you this. My point is redundant. Because fans like you dismiss the fact-based criticism as mere "opinion" and the cherry pickers keep "formatting" an illusion that, in reality, prevents us all from enjoying more competitive seasons that don't end in collapse.
Actually I did not weigh in on Booker one way or another. I just think it's fair to say that people have their minds made up by this point.

i know there are fans here, maybe even yourself, who understand the facts and recognize the illusion. Yet we all invest over 300 hours watching this team play, and only a few acknowledge that reality behind the marketing.

it makes sense. and it depends on what he focuses on
in the olympics he was asked to focus on defense.
on the Suns he pivots from scoring to assisting
but seldom scores AND assists significantly on one night
if he wasn't so expensive, we could build a contender
but now, with Green coming back,
i think we lose some defense and some key players won't get enough touches
anyway, now that we're all on the same page
i can retire

Why not quote the actual stats I was describing? They kill your narrative. My description wasn't entirely accurate. 2 extra points a game isn't "big" and we don't necessarily lose just have a worse winning percentage.

indeed, my friend, it's not about 2 points. the truth is an interesting thing. it always comes back. the results and ALL OF THE STATS point to the same conclusion (and have for a decade). It speaks to the fundamentals of basketball and LIFE, not the guy who wears #1.

Critical thinking isn't twisting stats to fit your need. Since you've decided to do so and now want to claim it's been happening for a decade I figured I'd let you in on something, Booker averages 2.6 more points a game in wins vs losses, which is a much larger sample size as there's more than 700 game's played vs the 30 or whatever when I looked that up before. Maybe cherry pick a different stat? Btw it's not just scoring but usage and shooting is higher in wins as well.

oh taz, you really don't know do you? you absolutely own the Suns and every other business. You pay every salary. You decide whether a business succeeds or fails. Same goes for the politicians who are public servants we pay to serve us. We are brainwashed to accept that we are powerless.
the Suns are a good example. Fans have been told for a decade that the Suns = Booker. He's on the posters, the ads, and the announcers work his hype and isolated, cherry-picked stats every game. Visually, he takes shots like he's Kobe or Jordan, he's among the leaders in having the ball in his hands (and cash/salary). But, on both ends of the court, statistically, he's mediocre and the rest of the league knows it, most often passing on him for All Star selection.
his true strength is his marketability -- face, jersey's, shoes, etc.. His agent and Suns org manages him (the product), but the community owns him. If we don't buy he's out. I'm actually the truer Suns fan, because i want what's best for the team and town, instead of the profiteers.
